Milk Dud Tips For Sale

This is not a disscussion thread, someone is selling a stuff and if u want u can buy it but if u r not looking to buy and just want to post information on how to make tips than u can post in another section.
We all know the recipe to make cues so do we all become cuemakers?

I think this post is uncalled for here.
Bite me. He's "selling" someone else's intellectual property that is available for free. There's no magic to them, and he shouldn't benefit from knowing someone else's recipe.

That is an old recipie and lot of people have been using and it takes time, effort and money to make them and if he is earning a few bucks whats wrong in it?
If kamui calls their tip soft does that mean any other company cannot call their tips soft?

And what are u trying to do by stating how they are made is that helping anyone save their intelectual rights.....which no one has.

Just like there are soft or hard there are milk dud tips it is no one's intelectual property

You sound like a certain fellow that used to post here.

Had one heck of a chip on his shoulder. Got his nose all bent out of shape when I posted that I'd prefer to do my own stack leather wraps rather than pay what he charged. Ditto for installing tips. He wanted people to up their prices for tip installation to the $30 to $50 range. Well, hello.... Sounded like he wanted people to pay union prices for tip installation, and so on.

Making milk duds is not rocket science, and the fellow selling the tips is charging a fair price, IMO. However, telling others how to make them is just fine with me, too.

Not that I wish to contradict you, but I will: Shawn's post is not only called for, but appropriate, and helpful.

This is a forum for lots of things, discussions, buying and selling, and dissemination of information.

Thank you Shawn for putting your recipe up...

Hi Flex,

I totally agree if wants to post telling how to make these tips.Only thing i didnt like is him posting on someone else's thread. He can start a thread in the appropriate section of this forum disccusing how to make these tips is fine. But assaulting someone else's thread is uncalled for

This is a wanted/for sale section and not a section to discuss how these tips are made.

Hmmm... you call it an assault?

Pretty strong language.

I agree with giving recipes and so on in the other sections.

However, some people have never heard of milk dud tips and are mystified by them.

IMO, thanking the OP for making them available is a good thing, and so too would be putting a link to some of the many threads on them so others can inform themselves about them before they drop the cash.

In that vein, here goes: To the Original Poster, thank you very much for making the tips available. I think your price is a good one, and encourage people to try them out. Also, for those who might like to know more about them before purchasing them, here is a link that may be helpful:

I was merely sharing a "known recipe", as you call it, with people that may be interested in these tips. To call what I have posted "an attack" is downright ridiculous. Moori, Kamui, etc, are all brand names for tips. They have their own formula for making these. The guy selling the Mild Dud tips probably learned the recipe from this website. Now, he's selling the tips himself. If you are going to buy the tips, at least be informed as to what you are buying. It's a 50c tip, soaked in about 10c worth of buttermilk, and pressed in a $2 C-clamp. Not exactly high tech, and they aren't magic bullets. How do we know this guy knows how to make a dud correctly? I've been making them for years, and I will tell you that of about 10 tips that are pressed, only 4-5 will be good enough to play with. Milk and pressure doesn't make bad leather good.

It was meant as information. Next time I'll keep my opinion to myself as to not offend "morality police" such as Monto.

Hi Shawn,

I am no morality police but just an az member like u.I repect the fact that u want to share ur knowledge about making these tips.Only thing i wanted to say u that this is someone else's thread to sell something. If u want to buy it or want some information from seller u can surely do it.
And if u want to discuss how these are made u can start a new thread in the appropriate section.Infact your post help me increas my knowledge as well.
The seller in addition to cost of the tip and milk would also be spending time and effort to make these and he is not earning a fortune out of it.many people will get an opportunity to try these and perhaps if they like they can make their own if they choose.

I dont have anything against u my friend:thumbup:

Have a good day,

I spoke with Mike years ago regarding the recipe for his tips. He uses (or used at that time) Blue Diamond tips as his base tip (select grade of Elk Master that is made for Brunswick). Sand the bottom of the tips. Soak the tips in buttermilk for a full day. The next day, you take the tip and stick them in a vise and press them. Press them for two days. After the two days, throw out any tips that cracked. If it didn't crack, it's good to go.

Word of warning. Trim with a NEW razor blade. They will self destruct on you if you use a dull blade.

So, how much do I charge for the recipe?

Secret recipe, schmecret reshipe...

Heck, I have a recipe that will turn the tips purple, and they'll play just fine...

It's called 100% grape juice. Of course I could also bake the tips for 45 minutes at 150 degrees, and sprinkle some powdered sugar on 'em to make them hit really sweet...

However, I'll stick with good 'ole whole milk, or maybe half-n-half, or whatever's in the fridge, and soak 'em right, and clamp 'em down, and then bake them for an hour at 150 degrees and enjoy them till the cows come in.

Sent my shaft to him last week to have one installed. He did a fantastic job even cleaned and slicked the shaft, it is smoother then it was new. He even insured the package for return delivery, and I never mentioned that. A+ dealings. I don't think I will ever try another tip.
