Does anyone know what the dimensions have to be on the table
of a mill drill to accomodate the 12" front so that I can cut and index
90 deg. for inlay of points? Does it have to be power feed?

Also what do I need to buy/ make, to configure the table to hold the workpiece?
Also how long does the travel have to be and anything else you want to throw in as far as information is concerned?
Thanks in advance, I know someone will help here.

The power feed will make a smoother cut.
Have to have travel at least as long as the groove you intend to cut.
There are a number of cuemakers who use the Rong Fu or similar model to what you've linked.

rehashed machine to buy I know, but

Come on guys, I know this has been gone over as far as what machine to buy, but these are less expensive. Also I'm not sure of the other things I asked.
PLEASE...>>>>Help>>>>
thanks, Bill

Check this bad boy Bill. When you consider shipping for the EBay mill, you are not far behind with the Grizzly.
Anyway, when it is my time, this is the one I will consider.
Way more table travel than you'll ever need to cut points and it has a power feed. Consider what the cost of installing a power feed on the EBay mill.
Look at the speed ranges on the Griz. 3000 rpm, you can cut wood with that one.

If decide to order the grizzly they are on back order right now. I ordered mine about 2 months ago and at first they said may 20 and now it's bumped back to June 23.

Thanks, This was posted previously, I like it, just a lot more money.
A friend said that he'd rather feed by hand, and that there are times
when it pushes the work too much? Seems like a difference of opinions,
possibly in materials?
thanks,

That Rong Fu has 18.5" of table travel. You'll probably want 13" for cutting points in forearms, but then your indexing fixture will also take up some of your travel as well. Most guys use some form of indexer and tailstock setup, and that can quickly take up more than 5.5" if you don't plan it out right. The Griz 1007 has 24" of travel, which will allow you some more options for the fixture that you use. Just food for thought.

Something like this.

Thanks, This makes a lot of sense now. The picture shows a support built in for when the work gets pressure from the bit. This is what my friend was telling me happens. I guess you like the auto feed then?
again, thanks a million, JerseyBill

Mr H,
Table travel and table size are independent of one another.
Most of these machines will have a table length in the 28" range.
As long as their table travel is more than 10" or so, you're good to go.
Thanx for the link to the blast from the past. That's an exceptional fixture.
