Million $$$ Question !!!

theres 2 things i want to know. how well does it play and what kind of tip did it have on it?and how heavy is it?{make it 3 things}

all i know is if the cue gurus on this forum cant identify it then it will probably remain anonymous.

I haven't weighed the cue yet. The tip feels like a medium triangle.

And...I agree, if it hasn't been ID'd yet....it may never happen. I just keep hoping that someone has a similar one or has a bit of knowledge to share!!

Time will tell......or not

Thanks,

Russ...........

I agree that it looks fancy for a Viking. But that's what it looks like to me.

I can't say for sure but i have an older gentleman that frequesnts our pool hall that shoots with a paradise cue that has the same exact rings on his cue in the same place, above the wrap. Might be an older paradise.......just my humble opinion...................mike

Ok....here are some close ups!!!!!

Chris, I just noticed that you live about 10 minutes from me. Would it be possible to meet so I can show you this cue??

The very end of the butt has been replaced with the closest matching material my cue guy could find. The screw and bumper were on the cue when I got it.

Side note - the guy I got the cue from ( 15 years ago ) also had a bunch of Ginacues. Very early Gina's !! He bought his Macon Billiards table, the Gina's and this cue in the late 60's.

The cue has been refinished and the wrap replaced with an almost perfect match. There were no markings, initials or names under the wrap :(

Thanks again for any and ALL input !!!!!!

I will be happy to look at the cue, but I won't be able to tell you much more than I can from the pics.

Here's a link to Mark Kulungian's web site. The first cue at the top is a Gandy. If you look at it, I think you will see similarities to your mystery cue, especially check the joint and rings.

I am pretty well convinced it's a Gandy or National Cue from the early 1970's. Gandy cues were made by National in Chicago as part of a cutom/production operation set up by Bob Meucci, Ricco Cervantes, etc. Your cue has a Ricco look to it.

Besides the appearance, I dated your cue by the use of the MOP look pearlized plastic in the buttcap (even though it was replaced). Palmer was the first cue maker to make cues with pearlized buttcaps. They started doing this in the late 1960's when they custom ordered pearlized rod in thicker size. So, the earliest your cue could be is around 1970. Very few cue makers made cues with pearlized buttcaps and if they did, they probably got the material from Palmer.

These cues are generic copies of Paradise/Palmer/Rich theme's, much like the Adam cues of the time were.

Unfortunately, this picture of Mark's cue is about the only pic I could find of a Gandy. Like I said, I am not sure, but it's as close as I can come.

I know for sure it's not a Palmer or a Paradise.

what ever it is dont sell it, until you KNOW what it is, i think you might have something there, give these guys some time they will figure it out.

I'm guessing it is an early Adam's cue. Is the joint aluminum or stainless steel? I like the looks too.

Frank Coster, perhaps?
