Mindfulness in Pool

I think something that is overlooked in performing well at the table is mindfulness. You need to focus and concentrate on what you are trying to accomplish and not let distractions get into your mind. It could be a distraction such as loud music, people, negative thoughts or energy and so on. If you have a clear head that is not cluttered with anything besides what you are trying to do then you can perform at a higher level. This does not just apply to being at the table but in other areas of life. Stay focused my friends.

That's right, Lenny.
I was so fucused the other day, playing One Pocket, that I put eight balls into my opponents pocket before he said anything.

Agreed. Unfortunately, my mental state is generally: mindfullessness.

I worry about people putting something in my drink and i also get scared that i am so focused on my game someone will take my bag with all my stuff in it. I do find myself saying stuff like what would Danny d do. Mindful of different scenarios and different responses omg i get so screwed up i think about situations that never come to life.

I can't focus... or do i want to ??

A agree with Lenny and IMO a player who wants to get to next level, has to learn ways to perform at the table with mindfulness/have focus.
Every time I am at the poolroom, I see people getting upset with themselves, saying "Oh I suck", "how did i miss that shot?".. and other things. They cry about every little distraction, even blame the table when they miss their shot. I don't know why?? I mean i don't see them doing anything about it, they not practice the right way, they have big "ego", they don't respect anyone and they have learned nothing out of their mistakes. For last 10 - 20 years they are "stuck" at the same level.
Its hard for me to focus, and I think the reason is my own personality, I get distracted/excited every easily. But, If I was playing pool for putting food on the table then damn right I would learn how to focus no matter how tough it gets.
And so I have a problem now, cuz If I am playing a game that's worth big money, or a final match and i want to focus i can't because "not focusing" has become a routine to me which is hard to break.
