What's the bare minimum size of a room will I need to fit a 7x3.5 barbox? I'm having trouble eyeing it... Can anyone provide advice from their experiences?

I left 8 feet between outside of rail and wall on each side for my valley bar box and that worked fine

:D :D

General rule of thumb I've aways ben told is at least 5 feet around all four sides. Typical cue length is just under 5 feet, and if you have a rail frozen cueball, any distance less than 5 feet will force you to elevate. I suppose you could always purchase a shorty stick for those times when you're frozen to the rail, but no one likes using those things.

Table Size Cue Length Min. Room Size
3.5' X 7' 48" 11'3" X 14'6"
3.5' X 7' 52" 11'11" X 15'2"
3.5' X 7' 57" 12'9" X 16'0"

Table Size Cue Length Min. Room Size
4' X 8' 48" 11'8" X 15'4"
4' X 8' 52" 12'4" X 16'0"
4' X 8' 57" 13'2" X 16'10"

Table Size Cue Length Min. Room Size
4.5' X 9' 48" 12'2" X 16'4"
4.5' X 9' 52" 12'10" X 17'0"
4.5' X 9' 57" 13'8" X 17'10"

Thanks all... This helps alot! Now I know which condos I'm not going to buy!

Now I don't need to bring my fake cardboard pool table to every open house! :p

I don't agree on this at all. If you want enough room for a regular 59" cue then you should go for 13.5' x 17' bare min!

If you don't you will need a shorty cue. Trust me. I have an 8'x4' table and my room is just barely wide enough at 14'.
