Minimum room size for a barbox

What's the bare minimum size of a room will I need to fit a 7x3.5 barbox? I'm having trouble eyeing it... Can anyone provide advice from their experiences?

I left 8 feet between outside of rail and wall on each side for my valley bar box and that worked fine

General rule of thumb I've aways ben told is at least 5 feet around all four sides. Typical cue length is just under 5 feet, and if you have a rail frozen cueball, any distance less than 5 feet will force you to elevate. I suppose you could always purchase a shorty stick for those times when you're frozen to the rail, but no one likes using those things.

I don't agree on this at all. If you want enough room for a regular 59" cue then you should go for 13.5' x 17' bare min!

If you don't you will need a shorty cue. Trust me. I have an 8'x4' table and my room is just barely wide enough at 14'.

Different sources give different minimum space requirement with a standard cue.
The differences come about because different people assume different minimum space requirements to make a stroke on a ball on a rail.
