Hi -

I am a C level player. This cue works well for me at my level. Please tell me who made these cues.

Thank you.

Cues with Fats name on them were made by many different brands.

Post a picture and it may be a bit easier to identify your cue.

Curios, in fats hey days. What cue did he use? With his ego I’m sure they were special!

BILL BLAKE (rip) and i bumped into him at the "GOLDEN 8 BALL" or "GOLDEN CUE" which was a upscale room close to the PLAYBOY CLUB in 64? and he was playing with a very fancy cue (LAUBE, PARADISE?) at that time.

He had on orange slacks and a green cardigan sweater, he was resplendent in a beach ballish sort of way.

He was jokin and strokin....layin it down with the intent of hookin a big-un

At one time he played wth a Gina,I think Dennis Glenn bought it from him,at another time he had a Mike Wheeler in a nice centennial case that said"worlds greatest pool player"

Fats probably had a lot of other cues too

These were all cheaply made cues by companies that Fats licensed his name too. I reviewed one of those contracts for Fats a long time ago, since he had trouble reading them. Believe me, he had no trouble when it came to negotiating a good deal though. Fats was one shrewd businessman! On the deal in question, they were offering him something like 10K in front and 1% of the sales. Wisely, he asked for 5K in front and 10% of the sales! I'm not sure what the final settlement was (maybe he got 5%), but Fats made out okay for a guy who never went beyond the 4th grade. He knew how to wheel and deal with the best of them!

A. E. Schmidt made some cues in St. Louis back in the 60s and 70s that were called Minnesota Fats Professional cues. I don't recall them having any sticker on them saying that and they didn't have any logo on them, but that is the way they were advertised in their catalog.

Here is a page from one of their old catalogs.

The MF-11 and MF-12 were made with Brunswick Titlist blanks.

In edit: The gold sticker below the joint may have had Minnesota Fats written on it, but I'm not sure. I can't remember from that long ago.

Thank you. I suspect the recent (2000 and later) Minnesota Fats Professional cues were made in China/Taiwan. My choice of cue does not seem to affect my playing, so I'm happy with less expensive cues. Rick

I just remember all those horrible bamboo wood cues that Fats
and other famous players put their names to... we're talking those
early '70's cues.

Fats, Willie (an aluminum cue.. really, Willie?) and later
Mizerak... I think Rempe did a cheap cue line made overseas.
