Missing easy balls..

If you are missing easy balls still and are a decent playing level it sounds to me like your eyes are doing the old double cross or you have a hitch in your stroke that needs fixed.....

First thing I would try is a call to Geno for a free phone lesson... If that doesn't fix it it may be time for a lesson on fundamentals......

Just got home.......cal me soon...............

Im just so close to giving up pool, it has become so frustrating when your opponet misses on the 6 and you have the 6 the 7 8 and 9 and you run TWOO friggin balls and miss an easy 8. What the hell?

Hi there,

If you can call me right now. But be by a table.

I will teach you how to zero in that eight ball from anywhere on the table.

I do a free phone lesson with Perfect aim. It won't cost you a penny.

I'm just helping pool players like yourself ONE PLAYER AT A TIME>>>

My guarantee to everyone is this will cut your misses right in half almost immediately. And when I say Immediately I'm talked within a week. The first day you work with it you will know this is the answer your looking for.

Looking forward to your call.

I can't believe the phone hasn't rang yet.

715-563-8712 And that goes for anyone tonight.

Geno............

some days the energy to play pool is just not there. I do better against better players cause winning means something. i ussually play down the level of my opponent. some days i just get shitty rolls, some days my opponent gets them. i ussually miss an easy shot cause i am trying some wicked english that throws the bcue ball or the object ball off. my buddy scratched with ball in hand tonight. it evevs out in the end.

and Soft Shot.

Read and believe em. IMO they are on point.

The psr does go a long way.
If it were easy, how'd you hit a rail?
And SS said if it's easy to execute....execute it well.

I agree that easy misses come from lack of concentration or focus, but I think one of the glaring problems that a lot of people have is that they tend to underestimate shots. Certainly there are shots that are nearly impossible to miss, and we rarely miss them when we can use whatever speed and spin we are most comfortable with, but when you have to give it a little bit more stroke or english than you are comfortable with, you need to hit softer than you are comfortable with, your bridge is slightly awkward, or if there is a lot of pressure on you, all of a sudden that "easy" shot becomes a medium or even difficult shot.

If you shoot that shot like you would an easy shot, you are likely to miss. I have to disagree with the posters that say you should treat every shot the same. Our ability to focus and concentrate is not infinite. If you focused 100% on every shot, you aren't likely to make it through a long tournament. I think there are several ways you can stop missing easy shots, in other words, improve your consistency.

1) Improve your ability to concentrate - This is actually easier said than done, and the time you invest in improving your concentration probably wont share the same dividends as the next things unless you just have horrible focus, oh look a butterfly!

2) Make hard shots easier - This is basically just improving your physical pool skills, especially in terms of alignment, aim, stroke, adjustments for english, etc. Shots some people would consider difficult, others would consider unmissable. If you practice to the point that shots you considered difficult become hangers, you will probably stop missing the shots you once considered hangers. This is basically a matter of practice and you will improve as long as you never become content with your skill.

3) Improve your ability to idenetify what makes shots difficult - This is very important and maybe the most overlooked. Because we can't focus 100% on everything all the time, being able to ration your attention depending on the shot is a skill that can improve your game with not a lot of effort. Choosing which shots you can shoot normally and which ones you need to take a second or even 3rd look at or shots that you need to be very exacting with your bridge formation and placement is not always easy or completely obvious. A lot of the time things we overlook are the things that make "easy shots" not so easy.

If people just took a little bit of time to grasp the entire situation before each shot I think they could improve their consistency greatly. This is not to say you should ever take a shot for granted, but I think it is okay not to go all out on shots that you would make 100% of the time anyways. The key to improving in this aspect is to get to the point where you never underestimate a shot. If you do that, I think you will be able to keep your focus going for long hours while still avoiding easy misses.

For me I miss easy shots when I forget, don't
take the time, to look at the pocket opening before I shoot.
Remember the pocket opening size changes depending on how close the OB is to a rail. Example; standard sized pocket openings are mostly about
5 inches wide but an OB froze to the rail enters the pocket through a 3 1/2 inch opening. Aim should be to the pocket opening not the overall pocket, otherwise those little rail corners will keep getting in the way of the OB.
My pre shot goes something like this. Stand behind the OB and look at the line to the pocket opening, adress the CB, look at pocket opening and back to the OB, from the OB to the cue ball, back to the OB and shoot.
Good Luck

The subjective way to evaluate your game is your continuing expansion of your definition of an "easy shot" coupled with your ability to make the easy shots (pot and position or PoPo for short).

There's a slight inference in there that says that an easy shot only speaks on the surface about your ability to make it. All that other stuff about practicing, having a PSR, not getting distracted by waitress are part of the equation.

The mark of a player is how they handle the easy shots, not so much how he handles the hard ones.

Freddie <~~~ and how much a person sucks counts too

Focus young jedi. winning games has a lot less to do with aiming and more to do with maintaining your focus.

No Let Down

There's no such thing as an easy ball.

Ain't that the truth!! You cannot let down at all on the high percentage shots. All shots need the same degree of focus. Need say no more.

If we made every ball the game wouldnt be any fun. Missing just reminds me of how great a game this really is, and how no shot should be taken for granted.
