Is she shooting a ticky?

I'm no billiards player so it's entirely possible (maybe even probable) that I don't see the shot, but I only see 2 rails the way she's going.

My dearest Walter,

It looks as though she's reversing off the bottom ball: long rail w/right; bottom ball; short rail; long rail...3 rails if made. The ticky is way hard from that spot and she's cueing w/level cue and not much power as far as I can tell.

The photo is so distorted it's hard to tell what she's doing.
I think she must be trying to reverse out of the corner which looks impossible to me. The yellow is too far out. Maybe she's going to hit the top of the red and travel down and touch the short to the long and reverse back???

Why doesn't she hit a 3 or 4 rail bank if she wants 3 rails?

Maybe she's playing caroms.

As previously explained, by hitting the long rail first with right english, then the red, then the short rail then the long rail again, she can make the yellow ball. The tables were very slippery, so this shot was possible by simply using max english. Normally, it would only be possible with a high ball and a lot of english and speed.

Hopefully ProfessorQBall [Paul Frankel] may have other photos showing Monica Webb shooting this Shot or if she was playing anyone. I wonder if other WPBA members were using the 3C Table.

JIMSHOVAK is Correct...

That shot is VERY possible. The beautiful thing about this game is learning the characteristics of each shot depending on speed and english. Whats great about this shot is how much stall you need on the q-ball (off of the red) to help create the necessary english needed to take. FOR EXAMPLE, think about how much english is created after the 2nd and of course the 3rd rails of a natural billiard w/extreme english. So in essence, with a good amount of right english, and hitting PLENTY of the red, the q-ball will "stall" enough to create the english needed to straighten the angle out.

A fun and creative shot

As far as her lining up for the shot, I'm sure she re-aligned after the "Photo-Op"......i.e.- english/angle.

I may have been a pool player one upon a time, but for the record, I did thing she was going to bottom ball first to catch 2 more rail using reverse...

I just wouldn't choose that one there!

But I am an employee, so whadda I know?

I believe, it's just a pose, no shot is intended to be made here, no logic to the position of her and the balls.

I agree with Dave on this. Long, red, short, long, yellow. The shot is quite doable, and IMO easier to judge than 3 or 4 rails first. What surprises me is that she even spotted the shot. It takes quite a bit of experience even to recognize that pattern.

From the apparent angle off the long rail it looks as if she's aiming to clip the front of the yellow. Long-yellow-opposite long then short and red.

Tough shot...you think?

That was how it looked to me too. I think that's on the tuff end of 1/20.

But, isn't the right shot:

Just talk with Paul Frankel. He told Monica how to shoot the shot Reverse Ticky, with Right English.

Guess you had to be there. The shot just doesn't look like it's there.
Like I said it's hard to see from the photo.

Again, the table conditions play a crucial role in this shot. If the balls are sliding alot (as they were, I was there), the shot is actually pretty easy. A high ball with speed and a full hit is key. She doesn't look as if she is using a high ball, so she might have missed it.
