"MONK" Warren Costanzo...1979 World Champion

What a great match and video. Thanks Bob.

Question: I grew up in St. Louis on the Mississippi and the table behind the match table looks like a Mississippi River barge! Any ideas of the brand? Thanks.

I think a lot of forum readers may have difficulty imagining the purchasing power of $27,000 in 1979. I purchased a 2,200 square foot ranch style home in a middle class neighborhood in December of 1978. I paid $45,000. I still live in the house.

My mortgage rate was 9.25 percent.

david rhodes was the best player in oregon back in the 70,s. they used to try and run him into me after i cleaned out a town or two.
he could slaughter stuttering rich easily. too bad he died young and didnt get far enough in the pool world.
they were the two that had an entourage of backers for anyone to play. getting beat by him was like getting beat by any top player especially on smaller tables.

i think david howard was the best breaker that ever lived. even better than busti.

You might be right. But that was a time when the goal was hit them as hard as you can and squat whitey in the middle. David probably averaged two balls on his 9 ball break. His breaks hurt your ears.
