Here is what I can offer for your help: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=331633

and here is my story:

I am recent graduate from Business school. Finished a 1 semester earlier in December of 2012 with all these courses taken in summer school. Was looking for job for over 4 months before finding contact position in May for 4 months in Healthcare sector. We were told in school how good healthcare sector is and there are lots of opportunities. I realized that this is not really for me and I dont want to stay here after my contract is over (in late August).

I would like to get into something more fast paced finance related. I fell in love with finance since high school (started reading books after school, opened trading account right when I turned 18) I would wanna get in there- problem is, I could not for 4 months and everyone around here (Toronto, Canada) was telling me how times are though, not many places are hiring and etc.

Will be writting CFA level 1 in december. Fields I am looking to get in: Trading, Investment Banking, Management Consulting, Risk Management and maybe Insurance. Start ups and general business oportutinties are welcome too
If I get into Risk management I will write Financial Risk Manager (FRM) exam in November of this year.

I am going to be honest my GPA is not greatest and only 3.2. And this is mostly because my addiction to pool and snooker, pretty hard to get good grades when you played at least 30 hours a week, lol, and had full load in university plus part time job. Plus pretty much all my electives were Math and Econ courses, was just 2 courses away from Math and Stats Minor

I am willing to move anywhere in there world as long as job is interesting and there is pool/snooker/3c table around!!!!!

If you think you can help me to get a job (work in the field or know someone) and I do actually get a job with your help. you will get 2 cues pictured in this post for free. If you think 1.5 worth of cues is not enough for your help (and can help me with something like IB/Trading job on Wall Street or London/Singapure/Moscow)- I will sell them and get you something crazy like SW, Mottey, Mobley, Older BB/Gina or whatever you like (good oportunity to get dream cue for a bit of help), I think 5% of my salary would be good celling indicator (if I get IB job at big bank I am sure I can get you 5k cue)

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but you gotta think out of the box to find decent job nowadays. I have been here for a while- have done lots of selling/buying/ trading and of course talking, and I think it is a good networking oportutiny business wise. There are thousands of people of az and I hope we can help each other- you will get amazing cue and I will start my career in finance!!! PM me or email me at melnikovkk@gmail.com and I will send you my resume.
Here is my linkedin profile, feel free to connect:

I have 2 citizenships: Canadian and Russian, speak English and Russian. Again- willing to move anywhere. Would love to learn new language (Spanish or German would be probably first choices, so moving to Latin America or Europe would be pretty cool too).

Let me know if you can help me in any way and if you think any other field I could go into with your help.

Thanks

My eldest son is cfo at a very large accounting firm in NYC (500+ cpa's)

They specialize in forensic accounting, general accounting, investments, and wealth management.

I can put you in touch with him to see if there might be an opportunity for you there.

If anything were to come of it, there would be no need to give me a cue.

Instead, my fee would be a moderately priced dinner and a game of snooker with you providing pointers since I know next to nothing about this game. If I do well, we'll split the table time. If not, you'll pick it up.

pm if interested and I will provide his contact info.

gl

best,
brian kc

Okay, info passed on and good luck to you.

And a clarification would be that if you do happen get a job as a result, still no cues for me please.

Specifically, my reward will be one snooker lesson from you, two gray's papaya hot dogs, and one of their tropical juices. I don't think french fries, but maybe. That'll be a game time decision. :)

Good man. I was trying to think of someplace I could forward him to, but for similar rewards. Hope you get your game of snooker, good luck not being frustrated .

It's illegal to take shopping carts from the supermarket. LOL. I hope you get a great job. Keep looking and don't give up.

LOL, I actually just moved into this student house a 2 months ago and it was there!!

still looking for some help guys!!

Stupid shit involving a shopping cart and being a college student.

I was in the lobby of my dormitory freshman year with two RAs shooting pool, its a 4 floor dorm and only way in was through the lobby. All is going well until around midnight the sketchy kid of the dorm pushes in a shopping cart from the walmart with 3 bags of groceries and his just as sketchy girlfriend, the walmart is about 7miles away and across a highway. One of the RAs looks at him says "What the **** man, get that out of here".
My school did not have a rule about stealing shopping carts because they did not believe it necessary, now on the contract with resident life that every on campus student signs there is a clause about stealing carts and baskets from local businesses.

The company I work for is always hiring in risk management, analysts, commodities trading, etc. Located in a suburb of Minneapolis and maybe 20 minutes from shooters where you will find a lot of great players. I can't comment on pay too much because I'm just a tanker driver, but it is way above the industry standard in my field. Benefits package is great. Just go to chsinc.com and click on careers..

Have checked out monster.com yet? There are 1000 plus job postings in finance!

Arlene

thank you for suggestion, I have been doing to for the last month and between January and May- did not get anywhere.
It is much easier to get in without extensive experience in the field with recomendation from someone within a firm and since there are thousands of people here on forums I hope somebody could refer me to someone they know or work with

My suggestion, and you may have already done this, is go to a head-hunter (or reverse head-hunter!). When my brother (actuary) graduated, he had a bunch of them contact him. He picked one he liked, and still has that person contact him with job offers 20 years later. They generally get paid by the company looking for talent, so nothing out of pocket for you, and they are very motivated to actually fill the spots. I would contact my brother who is now a VP at an insurance company, but they are HQed in a small town where they have likely never heard of snooker.

Good luck in your hunt!

Dave

Our capital markets division is currently looking for junior traders and I would be happy to put your information in front of my Human Resources manager. You can hold onto the cue.
