Moori or Kamui?

Kamui

I recently switched to the black soft Kamui and in my opinion even the older Moori which I played with for years does not compare favorably to the black Kamui. I think as several others have said if you can go with the Kamui you will not be disappointed.

Either way goodluck and keep your head down!

Okay so I'm getting a mcdermott cue probably after Christmas, and I'm most likely going to get the tip upgraded to either a moori hard or kamui hard. Since they're the same price, I figured I'd find out which will hold up longer since I don't really want to have to fuss with tips myself very often, and I have no way to locally get tips changed. Are these pretty resistant to mushrooming and flattening? I just figured I'd ask around, since 20 bucks is a lot for a tip. The standard tip is an everest. Any opinions on that one? Thanks, mhodar13

You can save time and money if you have buddies who are currently using eversest, kamui, etc.... ask to shoot some before you decide. i have tried a lot of tips and all friends asked the same thing and they all have different tastes and feedbacks.

Shoot with watcha got......

Hi, it's basically what you get used to playing with IMHO.

I think you'll find the Everest tips to play really well! Better than a LePro IMO for sure.

We have lotsa folks here that like a Triangle tip which is another favorite all leather tip and they shoot good too!

I've got a new Emerald layered tip from Tiger that I really like but, I shoot with Talisman, Kaumi's, Moori's, Wizards and Molivias as well. It's really what you get used to playing with -- layered tips tend to mushroom less, if at all, than a regular single piece of leather!?

Give it a whirl for a little while -- McD's have a 3/8-10 pin -- maybe some of your other friends have a shaft that will fit on your new cue with another style tip that you could try and see if you like the feel of the hit better!?!?

Welcome to the forum & Happy Holidays,

Moori OMG!!

I got a new carom cue yesterday and it came with a Moori tip. I have already stated my dislike for them in this thread. So I kept an open mind and went to Chris's in Chitown to try out my new cue. After counting over 20 miscues within the first 1 1/2 hours I gave up playing went home and promptly removed the moori tip. It is in the trash now RIP!!!!! I find it astonishing that Moori's have changed SO much since they first were introduced. I played with them exclusively for over three years and loved them, NOW I trash them!!
FWIW JMO!!!

The Everest I have on my Jacoby has never lost it's shape from the get go (did not require a break in period) I have had other Everest tips that required a litlle more maintenence but I think you'll be happy with how it holds up.

Kamui Black Tip

Okay I have been using McDermott for over 30 years and using Moori for about 9 years. I recently changed to a Kamui Soft tip and am thrilled with its performance. This is the first time I have used a "soft" tip due to their reputation of mushrooming. This particular tip holds its shape just as well if not better than the Moori Med I was using. I don't have to exert nearly as much energy on the cue ball to obtain the same spin desired as when I was using Moori. As far as Im concerned Kamui are the bomb!!!

I used to use strictly Moori med until they turned to shit and I could no longer stand them. About 2 years ago I switched to Kamui II med/soft and loved it and still do. I have a couple of these tips on my shafts. About a year ago I switched again to the Kamui Black soft and will never use another tip. Hands down best tip I ever used.

If you were used to using a Moori med I suggest Kamui II med/soft or Kamui Black soft to equal the hardness of the Moori. I found these hardnesses to be perfect for me anyway.

Kamui Black soft + Blue Diamond chalk... forget about it

Good luck!

Perhaps I was fortunate and got an older Moori med that had been sitting on the shelf.....( I got it less than 2 months ago)....but I have not experienced miscues with the regularity of some of the posters here. I like em just fine. i have just ordered a kamui black med and will install it when it arrives. perhaps I just spent money on hype, but at least I'll have the best opinion available on what works best for me.....MINE

I have played with Le Pro tips for a while and find they require a lot of scuffing. When I switched to a 314 shaft with Everest Tip I couldn't be happier. This was given to me and had a lot of play time on the tip and was about 10 years old. Started to glaze very easily and miss cues were crazy. I wanted to replace it with another Everest but, my local Pool hall didn't stock them. Was going to go with a Sniper but, to my dismay he was out. So from all the reviews I seen on here Went with w Moori Med. Took me almost a month to get my shooting back. get so much more spin it's crazy. I think I might switch to a Kamui Black Medium. Since the Kamui are a step above most other tips. I find a regular Hard a bit much and a regular medium a bit much. The Moori Medium is great once I got used to it but still a little soft for me my speed control is still suffering. I think a slightly harder tip my be in order.

But judging from what you have stated I'm guessing you haven't been playing all that long and this is going to be your first Real Cue so to speak. I would recommend shootng with it as it is. b4 trying to experiment.
