Moori Tip Discussion

Can not recall if I ever used a Morri, Kamui seem to be the rage now where I live, everyone is on Kamui Band Wagon. I like Tiger Tips, used their Hard Tip in past, have switched to Emerald, they seem to work.

When I am playing great I am playing great, when I am playing el crapo, it me playing crapo. Same Cue, Same Tip it the Indian that is failing.

When I am playing great, I am playing great! When I am playing el crapo it is the lights, the floor, the cue, the tip, my favorite carp the warped cue ball, the phase of the moon may be called into question. Certainly not my fault!

Cue components email back and they confirmed they do have Morri tips in the newest security packaging. I guess I'll order some and we will see.

Since no one answered I'll ask again...
Are these the G2's that everyone is referring to as counterfeit?

Here's a guy selling them for $50 each. Can you tell if they're authentic?

First and third pictures look genuine. Third picture, the third one looks like a Morri II. The best of all Moori tips.

I just put Moori Medium tips on my Carbon Whyte and and my Meucci Carbon Pro shaft they are the same as they have always been just a consistent medium layered tip... nothing has changed with the tips. what is the problem?

Just like any tip, you get really good ones, and some bad ones. I'm glad you got a good one. The first moori i brought two years ago was awesome, when that one worn down. I brought another, that was not so good. There are ones just as good you can buy for $20.and more consistent, So much choice around now. but Its hard to beat ultra skin and thoroughbred im my opinion!!

For what its worth, PoolDawg reviews of the Moori cue tip were all 3 and above except for two of the 71 reviews:

Since this thread is showing a little life I'll point out that there is a lot of difference in leather, even from the same hide. When talking multiple different hides, there can be worlds of differences. Just for starters, it is common practice to salvage the hides from Winter kill animals and animals from other times of year found dead. Some of these hides can be very marginal, to be blunt, shouldn't have been salvaged! Then comes the tanning process. Many different ways to tan a hide using many different products. Using the brain to tan hides was once popular. Tanneries don't smell like rose gardens, strong chemicals and organic matter!

An animal's hide is all different thicknesses and textures too. Somebody in a one man operation or small shop tends to be far more picky about hide selection than a bulk operation. Trying to get more tips out of a hide gets you into marginal areas.

Moori was a one man shop in Japan. I believe the man died, maybe just sold out. Regardless, the moori tip of today is a far less quality controlled product than when it was from a one man shop.
