MoP or Pearlescent Points - Can Any Cuemakers Offer This?

Hey Guys :)

I've been looking to find a cuemaker who can offer the option of having inlaid points of either MoP or Pearlescent, (MoP substitute) rather than the usual use of MoP inlays, but so far of all the cuemaker site that I have looked at, none of them mention as to whether this option is available or not and the only company that I know of in the US that has got any cues with Mop or Pearlescent points, is Viking Cues, but I'm not too sure if Viking cues are any good or if they have a custom order option available.

I have a specific cue design that I would like to have made, but the main problem seems to be the sourcing of a cuemaker who is be able to make this particular cue stick at a good and fair price :)

Any advice and/or PMs would be very much appreciated and if there are any cuemakers who would be able to make a cue with MoP or Perlescent Points, then please drop me a PM and I'll forward the details of what I have in mind for a price quote on this cue :)

Thank you everyone in advance and I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, as I wasn't quite sure where to post this :)

Thank you all once again :)

Willie

cue

Schrager use to make some cues with MOP or Abalone points not sure about the cost on them. I could do the cue but the cost of laminated MOP or Abalone large to make points is at least as much as ivory maybe more I would have to check. It should not be hard to find a cue maker to do this but I think the cost will be high do to the cost of MOP sheet. You can call me to talk about it if you like.

I would think that any cuemaker who wanted to utilize M.O.P. or the equivalent would by it in slabs from a supplier and use their CNC if applicable to mill the points out of the slab with and go from there !

I personally don't see a problem with it, and I believe Prather's and/or Atlas Fibre carries it !

I know with Viking cues you can custom order finish, wrap, joint, length weight, ext on most of there cues.

Hey guys :)

Thank you all very much for your replies so far, I really appreciate it alot :)

I had checked out the Viking website a few days ago before posting the thread on here, but they don't give details on their site as to exactly what extra custom options are available, in the event that they don't have a cue that a customer is looking for.

For example, if they have a cue that has got a ss joint / pearlescent joint collars and a plain jane black finish, they don't give details of whether or not I could completely have the cue custiomised with the addition of inlaid points, or a non-standard handle, etc, and also, they don't state on their site what the pricing guides are for any non-standard custom options.

And so, it was for this reason that I decided that it would be best to ask on here, as you guys are pretty much the best people to ask about this, especially since this is the cuemaker's section :)

Thank you everyone once again, I really appreciate your replies so far and I would certainly appreciate any more info and advice :)

I had a look to see if the PFD Studios website is still up and running, but I couldn't find it :(

BUMP

Have sent an e-mail to Viking Cues and so will see what reply I get back from them, but I know that I'm looking at at least a $1K USD price tag, because it's a custom design and that's not including what I have asked for, and so, I'll have to wait and see what their reply will be :)

Any other info possible would be greatly appreciated :)

Thank you :)

I have real mother of pearl and real abalone in slabs large enough to make points. Email me your design and price range you are hoping for and I will give you an honest answer as to your best route, whether it will be me or another cuemaker. You might have to use plastic pearl as the real stuff is not cheap. cueman@cuesmith.com

Hey guys :)

Thank you all for your replies so far, I really appreciate it alot :)

I've e-mailed Viking Cues earlier in the week, but haven't recieved any reply, and so they won't be getting any buisness from me :)

I'll keep looking around at the moment and see how it goes :)

Thank you all once again :)

I would think any cuemaker you contact would most likely be willing to make your cue. I'm talking big time makers like Gina too, although Ernie may not go there. He's pretty strict about what he lets out of his shop. If he doesn't like the look of something or doesn't think the veneer colors you choose would suit his cue he won't make it. But, with that said, top of the line cue makers like Ernie would probably be willing to do that for you.

Thanks Mully, I appreciate it buddy :)

I'm pretty much at the stage of looking around to see what's going to be the best option, but at this rate, I'm gonnas wind up either having the cue made in the Philippines, OR that I'll not bother with the custom design I have and just go for another cue stick instead.

It's just a case of seeing how things pan out over the next few weeks or so :)

Just sold this Viking for $97 shipped on ebay.

It hits absolutely amazingly. I got it for $35 bucks. It had a 12.5 mm shaft and it was amazingly solid and a tremendous deal. I just need some cash so I did what we all do. Ebay.
This was an older version which had the 5/16 18" pins, which I wanted to keep the shaft as an extra for my Meucci. I never liked vikings and owned a few in the past, but somehow this one $35dollar cue was superb.

Nice pics of "Pearlescense"~
