i received many pm's and a few phone calls about the bamboo ferrule, so i took a few photos, they are of bamboo and elforyn, the first are photos showing the ferrules are very close to the same size.then the two ferrules on a diamond scale at my jewelry store, this scale is VERY accurate. the elforyn is about 2.3 times as heavy as the bamboo.
the last photo was just a fun photo, as i had heard that bamboo would sink in water as its too heavy to float. sorry that piece is as i received it from the seller and

IT'S FLOATING

i do not sell bamboo ferrules, and i am not trying to convince everyone they are the next comming, but gave this information to help others. i have received much information on this forum and wanted to share a bit i had about bamboo.

Daaaa....

Well I tried it again. I must have been really tired when I saw that stuff sink.
That stuff is really light. Very impressive.

Interesting... how well do they play? Does there seem to be a noticeable reduction in deflection?

hit is very subjective

you have to remember the first game of pool i played was around 1950, when i got a bit older i played in bars and grabbed whatever was on the cue rack, back in the day, a mirror finish, balance point, snow white shaft, with this weeks latest laminated tip, and $20.00 chalk was far from our minds. if the cue was kinda straight, and one had a bit of blue stuff we were good to go.
the best i can describe the bamboo ferrule hit, its about the same as playing with no ferrule.

Interesting. Have you had any problems with splitting? I have read that bamboo is actually not a wood but a grass and can grow more than 3' per day. Supposed to have a very strong strength to weight ratio. At what price do you sell these ferrules for?

i do not sell bamboo ferrules

i agree with you i believe its classified as a grass., i stabilize them and as of yet never had one split, but, just about every material that used for ferrules has some type of drawback, and these are probaly not perfect either, just another option.
