From watching the SVB vs. Dimitri Jungo challenge match, I got interested in Jungo. I'd never heard of him before, but he seems to be a world class player possessed of a huge amount of poise. A quick search on Youtube found this Jungo match, presented here for your enjoyment. This is a semi-final match of the 2010 Grand Prix tournament in Biel Switzerland. If you like this, you'll find the final easily enough.

The commentators for these matches will either amuse you or sending you stabbing for your Mute button. I personally found them entertaining, feeling that they had a kind of "Hans and Franz of the pool world" quality. Of course, YMMV.

My new signature line is lifted from their commentary, which I am freely stealing since they paraphrased it from a famous German soccer player quote.

Yeah Jungo is a good enough player, BUT !

1. I think that table they played on was as easy as it gets.
I do mean the challenge match table. It is easy to tell just by watching.
2. I would NOT pay to see this guy play unless he is on a 30 second clock !!!
He makes CW look like Salvas !

Yeah, I hear you about his speed. You're watching him, and you think that he can't possibly stand up one more time over a particular shot, then up he pops again. You'd think he'd talk himself out of those shots, but then he bangs them right in after all that.

I watched the SVB vs. Jungo match live back when it was on a while back.. Unlike Oldzilla, I really enjoyed watching the match, I thought he played very very strong and if he'd just gotten one less bad roll, the South Dakota kid would have lost that match.

He played great patterns, super strong safteties and shotmaking skills and the match went hill/hill at 49-49.. Not bad..

The edited version that was put up last week took out the pauses between shots and I did not think he played that slow during the live match either.. Just my opinion..

dimitri was world junior champion and he was the youngest ever winner of an euro tour with the age of 17!!!!!!!!!!!! i do think he is one of the best 20 players in europe (which is very strong, dont worry... )
of course svb is slight favourite, but its not like jungo couldnt beat him in a race to what ever.

I know that he made it to the final 18 of the IPT World Open in 2006.

I remember him because my buddy said to me "Hey, Efren is playing Ashton Kutcher on the TV table". :D
