Pro Player
I didn't get to play in my first World 14.1 tournament until 1983, when I was 40 years old. I finished in a tie with Ray Martin for 3rd & 4th. Without going into detail, I and others were discriminated against. It has been my hope that I could help other players not go through that.
I'm going to level with you here. I don't want an invitation but that doesn't mean that I don't feel that I richly deserve one. When my new show comes out and is sucessful I'll do my own tournaments. I can always do a better job than Dragon Promotions anyway.
In light of how I think I've been treated, I ask, why shouldn't I start an American Players only tour? We have plenty of stars who play just as well as the European and Asian players. They just don't know it.
There's still time to right this injustice. I would gladly accept a sincere apology from Charlie Williams and the UPA and the WPA and I'd apologize myself. We could start over-would be fine with me.Of course this will never happen because the aforementioned love themselves a lot more than thay love pool.
Well, go ahead and light into me. I relish it and anxiously await.

With all due respect for who you are and what you have done you are starting to sound like a bitter old man.
Sometimes it is more of a statement to ride off with your head held high into the sunset then complain all day about something that will just eat away at you. I'm not quite as old as you (I'm 62)and have had dissapointments in life but i'll be damned if i'm going to sit around and mope and complain about it. Forget these people that you feel have wronged you and do your own thing better then them and then say kiss my behind like our old friend Tony Cattuci would have done.

people

They only win if you let them, Other wise pay the 565 entry and go play and have fun. Life is too short to carry that type of grudge. Just my .02

Grady, with all due respect. It's the same the last couple of years. The World 14-1 Championship is getting closer to kick-off, and you start several thread about the subject of not being invited. Could you atleast just do your posts in one thread?

I know you are a living legend in the game, but that doesn't mean that you should automatically be invited for all events.

Even in some of the major golf tournaments they only invite the champions from the past 10 years. After that they need to qualify to play, if they want to. The World 9-ball Championship invite the winners from the past 5 years. A good rule, imo

If you want to play, earn your right based on how you play now, not what you did in 1983.

anyway, good luck with your upcoming events. I am sure that you will do a good job, and I am looking forward to getting more information!
