More questions for you experts, just tell me to shut up if I get annoying :)

So, I picked out my GC II last night, played a few games on it, and it seems to play really well. The only concern I found with the table is there are two missing rail bolts (luckily not on the same rail). One of them is just plain missing, didn't have a bolt to see if there was a reason, the other bolt you can see that the top of it was sheered off. If the plates they screw into are stripped/cross threaded, is it easy to replace them?

I'm also now a bit scared of what the cushions/etc will look like when the cloth gets taken off the rails after looking thru all the hackwork pictures... I think for now since the table currently has the same Simonis cloth and color as I'm replacing, I'm just going to have the mechanic do the bed cloth now and save the new cushion cloth for this summer when I plan on doing some restoration work on the table and extend the subrails and put on new rubber. All the laminate on the top is in tact with only a few dings in it, but the wooden side skirts are a bit beat up along with the legs. So I'll be at some point sanding them down, restaining, etc, but that has to wait until my garage is not 30F and it's not 5F outside! I hate MN winters!

Thanks again for everyones help so far in this purchase of mine and I love seeing all the before and after pictures! I'll be posting some pictures of the work being done on Friday by Jamie Pluta. Also going to pick up some of the plastic hanger tape to do the pretty pocket folds, Jamie hasn't done them before, but he's aware of the method and is willing to give it a shot when he does the install.

Take a pic of the underside of the Rail where the mounting area is for each area that the bolt is missing, this way the mechanics can tell you how to address this. The degree of difficultly can change quickly from GC1 to GC2. and just because you where told it was a GC2 doesn't mean all the parts are  but that is another thread altogether.

Won't have the table until Friday when the mechanic is picking it up and setting it up, so can't get a picture until then. I have let him know already about the two bolts in case he might need to bring anything to fix them, if he is able to do it. I'm hoping he goes the extra mile and is prepared to do so, but as I have yet to deal with him personally and only know of his reputation I just want to be properly prepared just in case... It's the old Boy Scout in me :)

What happened to your original thread with all the commotion about GC sizes?

Its not really the extra mile, it is just part of doing the job right. The broke off bolt needs to be drilled out from the underside if it has broken off flush or lower than the bottom of the rail. If its above, try to grab it with some visegrips and back it out. Good luck with the new table, and the many years of enjoyment you will have with it.

Well...it's a good thing....because now I have the PROOF that Brunswick never did make a GC 44x88 at any time....as in a correction in size from Tony at Brunswick...the GC1, 2, and 3's were in FACT....46"x92"s...and have the paperwork to back it up...so, I WASN'T WRONG after all!!!

I like the method Jay Spielberg uses to remove floating nut plates that have a rail bolt snapped off inside of the rail...if someone that don't know what there doing or not used to drilling out bolts on GC rails with floating nut plates can have big problems, if they was to snap off a drill bit inside the rail there's big problems..there is only a very few things that is harder and sharpe enough to drill out a drill bit and there not found just anywhere nor are they cheaply priced' pat from pool table 911 has a alternate method...if a guy working on your pool table goes to use a method other than what the pros do....but if he is skilled with a drill and knows what is inteled for removing a gold crown floating nut plate that has a bolt snapped off in it,let him at it'...there's more to it than just drilling it out' .if he don't know what he is doing ask him to stop! You could call or ask one of the guys I mentioned, but I'm not sure if they are willing to give out info for free that is profitable on behalf of lining a strangers pocket....jamie has never showed any of his work here nor has he posted in this area' not to my knowledge at least..

Oh' PS'. Mr wilson...why did you remove the post in question about the 44X88 GC?

Heard back via email from Jamie today and said we'll try to retap the one that is missing a bolt completely, but he's rather wait on the snapped off bolt until I plan on having the rails/cushions redone (hopefully this coming summer) and extended as you need to remove the cushions to replace the floating nut plate.

Wouldn't you just know it....I didn't get the written documentation until I got back to my hotel room where my computer is...LOL I sent Scruffy a copy of it...and now he has the same proof I have...in writing....not quoting someone else second hand:D

You needed proof? I would think the word of about a dozen mechanics would have sufficed.

Any pics of your table set up? Was your table from Jimmy's?

The table was from Jimmy's. It's setup, but haven't put up any pictures yet, trying to get the cloth on the cushions a bit cleaner (re the thread I posted on it). I'm going to see about tossing up some pictures tonight I think.
