Well, I just about spewed coffee all over my keyboard this morning.
How much is an autograph worth? Cliff Thorburn is a great guy and has a long and distinguished career, not trying to be a smart aleck. I've seen cues like this at the local pawn shop for $15. I think the thing that got me the most is that the shipping charge is $100. As if the guy isn't asking enuff for the autographed cue, hes gonna jizz you on shipping as well.
I recently got an autographed 9 ball (Earl Strickland) that I treasure very much and Drawman offered to send me a pic of Danny Diliberto, that I'm also pleased about getting and will adorn my shop wall. Just wondering if you could have any pool greats autograph on your cue, who would it be and how much would you be willing to pay for it?
 
Depends on the player, depends on the cue and it depends on whether or not the cue was used to win a major tournament. Even with all that in mind, what I would pay is likely very different than what someone else would pay. Collectibles like autographed memorabilia are worth as much as someone will pay for them. A ball autographed by the entire 2007 Red Sox World Series team would probably be worth a lot more to me than it would to someone who isn't a Red Sox fan.

Most people don't buy them as investments because they rarely appreciate in value. You should pay what you think something is worth, not what other people or some book tells you its worth.

The value in an autograph, for me, is realized when I know something of the person who does the signing. I look at it and remember that I was there or that person shared something that I experienced. Sometimes I get to meet the person, and other times the autograph helps me remember them.

If I were to request an autograph, it would be Don Willis. Price would be whatever I could afford. If the autograph came with the chance to have met Willis, it would be priceless.

What autograph would be worth the most on my cue?...the answer is Barry Szamboti!
 
I know this isn't very fashionable on this sight, but I have my favorite players autograph on a cue, Mike Sigel. The cue plays great and I could not be happier.

Cliff is a great guy! He has got some of the best jokes and stories I've ever heard. Always at the ready!

I hope they get 5k for that!

If that cue is worth that much :scratchhead: then I wonder what my autographed cue is worth?? I have a stick from the 2000 Mosconi cup(and I won it from this site back in 2000, thanks Mike and Matchroom sports) that is autographed by all 12 players from both teams as follows:
Steve Davis, Ralf Souquet, Thomas Engert, Steve Knight, Mika Immonen, Marcus Chamat, Shannon Daulton, Earl Strickland, Johnny Archer, Corey Deuel, Jeremy Jones and Mike Coltrain.

Any guesses or offers ;)

Then I have a limited special edition leatherbound BCA rules and records book with more autographs in it than I can remember and every one of them was personally autographed in front of me. Some off the top of my head are Reyes, Bustamante, Lisciotti, Ginky, McCready, Zuglan, Corr, Lebron, Rempe, Varner and many others. This I will never sell but if you wait long enough you may be able to buy it from my estate :)

Wow, 3400 for that cue? I've never really been an autograph hound. When I was a kid I met Pete Rose at an Arby's in Cincinnati. I asked for his autograph and he asked me if I had a pen. Well, I was a 9 year old child so I wasn't known for carrying a pen around with me. When I told him that I didn't he got pissed off and kind of chewed my ass out. He said that I should be more prepared for things. Since then I've hated him and I've never really been into asking for autographs. Only other time I recall asking for autographs was from the members of Van Halen. When I was at the Lexington All-Stars tournament I met all the big names and only got Buddy Hall's autograph when I bought his book.
