My picks Earl Strickland the best under pressure Shane Van Boaning captain top 3 in the world Mike Desheine great shot maker Corey ( EDIT ) ( Duel ) very good player and Mike Schmidt good under pressure. Mike Wilson's choice too young no experience they will get destroyed maybe in a few years but not now.

I like your post, I don't have a clue what you're talking about, but then again neither do you. LOL

Thanks, I waited all F'n week, on the edge of my seat, just to hear your irrelevant picks. Stick to hockey.

My picks Earl Strickland the best under pressure

Earl Strickland is not a team player. "Euros" who said that when he was picked last year were called haters by some. And then the team imploded. He's a jackass of a team player. I'd love to meet him off the table and I love to watch him play pool but if aliens were airlifting us out in pairs before they killed the human race, I'd rather prop a dead guy up next to me.

he is not the reason the Team "imploded", if you want to call it that.
i will give you, that he plays for himself, to win; should control his outbursts.
and as we recall from the front row, Shane & Earl had the best stats & the Euros absolutely loved Earl.

I Just watched the 2013 Mosconi cup and Earl did play very well and possibly played the best out of the American team. I have to agree that he isn't exactly what I would call a "team" player. His outburst I believe caused some negative energy to form on the Americans team which they didn't need at all because they were getting smoked and needed a second wind. Nonetheless I think it would be a honor to play with Earl regardless of his behavior, and I think his outburst are part of what makes Earl.... Well Earl.

Agreed 100%. But it is a big mistake to put him on a Mosconi Cup team. There are loads of players who are good enough to give the best European players a game.

I would have to completely agree. He did play very well last year but I think in the long run he hurt his team more than he helped. Lucky for SVB he could turn his ears off

FYI, we were in front of, or same distance, as the other team members. both teams. none of us spectators even knew that they were microphoned till Day 2 (cause we were all there live). yes, we could hear sounds & see lips moving.

my point? yáll were the only ones to hear the player's rude comments/language. on camera. and i completely believe yáll's offense. but what you missed in the stands (forced to sit next to a bunch of obnoxious Brits  no alcohol was involved!), came closer to blows....

if Mark would channel Earl's strongsuits into leadership,
and of course, his partner, SVB,
and take a bunch of young studs who have NO FEAR,
(and look better in their Mosconi tight pants & shirts than EUUU-RUPPP,)

then we could take the Cup.

In the 2013 Mosconi Cup, Strickland lost his only singles match and lost two of his three doubles matches (the one win was with SVB). Strickland did play well in the team match, winning the 2 games he played in the team's 3-6 loss to Europe.

gonna have to call you out, Honey - cause it was a HUGE bone of contention on Day 3/Final Day.

what are the stats of each player vs # of games played?

i ask, cause the 8 of us/US were like: WTF? WHY AREN'T WE LEADING W/ SHANE & EARL @ DAY 3 FOR A POSSIBLE COMEBACK????

(even the damn Brits were asking us this outside @ smoke breaks)

OMG they were so annoying yelling EUROPE!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEUUUUUUUURRRRRRRROOOOOOOPPPPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
Thank you for clarifying that they were indeed sober, I thought they had to be wasted to be that annoying!

Earl Strickland (Captain)
Scotty Frost
SVB
Justin Hall
Michael DELAWDER (even tho he tried to hustle on me... yeah me.)

nope - they're just typical English Arses. ;)
you have to remember that their timeclocks were 8 hours ahead of us @ Vegas @ 11AM.... you should have had to sit NEXT to them (Day 2 & fricken Day 3 @ Euro stand).

just a little trivia - you heard 2 different sets of EUUU-RUPPP chanting. one, came from center mixed section - they were GERMANS!!!!! 5 of them. in matching blue Mosconi personalized T-shirts & no-oooo English (much less, Southern). 10 rows behind us. i pinched them everytime i climbed up to leave. the other 3 guys, were friends of VAGABOND's (AZBer). they had prominent seating with the wives/GFs of Europe. and ONE LOUD MOUTH SCOT (Jim, who shall remain nameless) got flipped-off regularly, & almost backhanded, from afar.

and as irritating as they appear, i guess you just have to be there to experience it. to me, it's compelling & exhilarating - but i've been around rugby for a very long time. plus, i can whistle. they fight fierce & then forget & buy you a drink. and we have several places to stay for free, if we go to Blackpool....

this, is why i think some "new blood" (or young guns), might succeed. when you have nothing to lose; no investment; no fear - it's to your advantage. and Mark Wilson has been training them in college setting.

i hear very good things about Mark & his standards & mentality.

While you do have a point, Earl wasn't the cause. Take day two for example when Johnny Archer got skunked 6 to zip. He didnt play that bad. He just got beat. Is there anyone on the planet that could have beat Feijen that match. I don't think so. He played that well!

I'm not sure what you are questioning, but here's a thread that shows the individual records for all the players in the 2013 Mosconi Cup: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=343268.

Note that Earl participated in 5 matches, of which 4 were losses. His only singles match was on Day 3, a loss to Boyes. As I mentioned before, he did play well on Day 1 in the Team Match, where he won both games he played even though the U.S.A. team lost 6 of the 9 games played in that Team Match.

As to Day 3, Europe led 8-2 going in, needing just 3 more wins to wrap it up. Earl played in the first match (Match 11 of the event), with Hatch, in a doubles loss to Appleton and Souquet. Then Earl lost Match 12 to Boyes. Then Hatch and Morris lost Match 13 to Immonen and Feijen to end the event. So SVB and Archer didn't get to play on Day 3 because of the 3 losses in a row. Whether the U.S.A. would have done better using a different order for the picks on Day 3 is unknowable.
