I looked through the scoring of past events. It appears that the largest deficit overcome to win the Cup was in 1996 when USA was down by 4 twice, at 6-10 and 7-11, but came back to win 15-13.

USA was also down by 4 in 2006 at 4-8 but came back to tie it at 12-12, where it ended!

The largest deficit overcome to lose was in 1995, when USA was down by 5 at 10-15, won the next 5 matches to tie it at 15, and then lost the final match to lose the Cup 15-16.

I'm not a world beater, but I play high ball a touch of inside on that 8...

Not on new cloth....it won't be easy.

The pro shot is just cut the 8 in, high center cueball and go 3 or 4 rails around the table, above the 9. Send it middle of every rail. Zero chance of a scratch, skid or anything. Huge area to be good on that 9.

Or you could just flick at it with low outside, decelerate and look like Tyler...blowing it again.

He better not be playing next year.

I don’t really mind the shot on the 8 ball; with the slick cloth I think I prefer swinging it around 2 rails the way he attempted. I wonder if he was scared of the scratch in the side so he just played it too soft. That or it kind of looked he just drew it too much so it came into the short rail too shallow. Either way, massive blunder.

See my post... just send it natural 3 or 4 rails. No scratches possible.

What if it goes hill-hill, i.e. 10-10 based on little calculation and unless I am horrible at math, then they would have to add one extra day, or play three or four extra matches in last day making last day filled with matches for a very long time, i.e. 8 matches in one night, would cruel for audience and players as well.

Yeah but think of how many memes I can make with 8 matches of content. It will be glorious.

Tyler has been the second best player on team USA for the past several years now? At least that’s what JJ said on commentary yesterday. I think I have to agree with him.

He is having a bad Cup. But I feel like you’ve always had an axe to grind with him.

But in the 11 years when the "points" needed to win the Cup were more than 11, teams had more of a chance for a big comeback. In the 20 years when winning the Cup has required just 11 match wins, the largest deficit overcome to win was 3, in 2007 when EUR trailed 1-4 but won 11-8. In those 20 years, teams have won 7 times after trailing at some point by 2 matches.

He dogged the leave just like JJ mentioned. Tyler makes subtle positional errors like that quite often. He needs to pay closer attention to the thickest of the hits he leaves himself.
