Mosconi Cup Fund......

I am considering starting a travel fund for the US team for this year.....

Mark has some great ideas he will be putting forth soon but it's not going to be cheap....

I am a tiny player in the industry at this point with Outsville.. Actually more tiny than player LOL, but I still feel a need to do something being a part of it...

One of the ideas Mark has is to have the prospective team travel to different places and play teams of regional players to build confidence and team dynamics...

I'd throw up $500 for them to come to Knoxville and play my ragtag group of players on our home court to help offset expenses but I doubt they make it here... Since that is the case I'd throw $250 in a travel fund for them to play someone's team besides mine... begrudgingly I will add LOL....

If there is enough interest in the idea I'll contact Mark and have him setup a paypal account for donations...

Anyone that would be willing please post here and provide the amount you might be willing to give... This is not the walkathon just kind of a poll and noone will be showing up on your doorstep to collect... you might not be able to donate when the time comes but I'd like to see if we could generate anything...

I could see industry sponsors offering goods in lieu of cash and Mark having a trunk full of cues and cases to sell at half price on the road to get the team seasoned........

Mosconi Cup travel fund - great idea. Perhaps set it up with Mark himself for the endorsement as well as the administrator and I'm sure it will catch on with great enthusiasm. Count me in!

Great idea. I think making a PayPal account could have a good chance; not really any downside to doing it. I think it would be a good idea, from time to time, to publish how much has been collected and how it was spent to keep it on the radar.

A fellow started a fund once for a manager (he had cancer) of a pool hall in Houston once on a website. Also had a pool tournament fund raiser. I cannot remember how much was collected but I think it was around $10000.00. Not bad for a bunch of pool players and misc. other folks. Just a local deal you know. So you never know how well something can go.

I'll bet there are plenty of folks who are intererested in helping out for the Masconi cup. After all it is a National pride sort of thing. I hope Mark Wilson sees this thread and considers the idea.

Perhaps you should look at this link

It was posted before Mark was appointed and discussed with Matchroom. They are funding Mark's 'Boot Camp' but considered the schedule, as posted, too rigorous. But they will run a scaled down version of it starting around September.

Mark Cantrill (of Legends and Champions Tour fame) and myself have also discussed it and along with Mark Wilson we see it as an opportunity to lift the game in America and widen the Mosconi Cup fan base. But we reckoned it would take around $100,000 to put on a Roadshow that matched the professional standards set by Matchroom.

But rightly so, Matchroom would not see it as THEIR responsibility to spend their money developing the game in the USA.

Let us see how your fund progresses and maybe it could be looked at again

If Mark puts a paypal link on a web page I'll be in for $200.

This sort of campaign is needed if the players will have the money to meet and practice together.

Perhaps someone like Fatboy, with a large house can put the team up for a week.
