Mosconi Cup teams vs matching up among the players

I understand that the Mosconi Cup is a team event but it is clear that the USA has better players. Case in point, if the 5 current European players had to each pick 1 different USA player to play a 10 ahead set, would Europe even be able to win 1 or 2 sets out of 5?

Yes, its very clear. Europe has to struggle with players like the current US Open 9ball champ, the US Open 9ball champ from 2009 and 2008, the current World 8ball champ in their line up. I dont understand why they even bother to play

You and I both know that the best players don't always win a tournament involving races... I have refrained from posting matchups to prove my point but may do so soon.

I would say it's going to be very close. Europe have Darren and Mika arguably two of the most in form players at the moment.

Given the fact that only Appleton is a 'recognised money player' then the US players would have a head start on the experience level.

But playing Challenge Matches for third party money would be a different story.
Put up a Hundred Grand on each of these matches and see what happens -

Boyes v Hatch
Appleton v Deuel
Souquet v Morris
Immonen v Archer
VD Berg v Van Boening

Europe 5 USA 0

I never said the Mosconi Cup wouldn't be close... I believe it will. I made refernce to the USA having BETTER PLAYERS if they matched up. Here is my point: When they did match up, we know that Shane handled Mika and Dennis beat Darren on TAR. That leaves Johnny, Corey and Rodney against Souquet, Boyes and VanDeberg... any way you spin those 3 match up's, England would be extremely lucky to win 2 of them. Just the way I see it...

But would you do the same bet playing 10 or 12 ahead with:

Van Boening vs Immonen
Hatch vs Appleton
Archer vs Souquet
Deuel vs Boyes
Morris vs VanDeBerg

Pretty certain you would book a big loser with these... at best 2 out of 5 thus proving my original point.

All day long! The Europeans are all definitely fitter and their stamina would be greater.
Dennis, Johnny and Rodney are old men:):grin-square::)

I can only say that because I am older than them

Good job it's Pool and not a Marathon:smile: It will be very close this year and IMO will go to the final session.

Johnny, Rodney and Dennis maybe a little bit older than some, but at 9 ball are also still some of the best out there.
