Mosconi Cup

But Bergman is only 6 points behind 10th place, so one good finish might jump him up there. Do you know whether he is playing in the Texas Open or Houston Open?
He is on the players list for The Texas Open.

At this point i don't think anybody is sure about the Houston event last report i got about the venue was they were good and not flooded.

Glad to hear both pieces of information. I hope Justin does really well this weekend.

Edit -- I just checked on Round Rock, and it looks like they pretty much escaped anything bad from Hurricane Harvey.

I like earl ! But, too many are lobbying for billy thorpe! He is close with Sky and they are closer in age ! I guess !

Earl did good Maryland bar box. Big table lost to sky then I guess fell apart? Don't know his second lose?

Anyway, Earl was more of asset then SVB at the cup and that's a fact jack!

Earl did have a good Cup that year.

I'd like to see Justin on the team too. Maybe he will do well at the upcoming Houston tournament.

Here's my picks. On points: Shane, Sky, Justin Bergman, and Brandon Shuff.

Wildcard pick: Earl Strickland.

If Johnny Archer can be co-captain with the European Johann, Earl Strickland must be on the Team USA.

Here's the thing JAM, Justin is not in the top 10 currently and it may be tough for him to crack it, no matter how well he plays from here on out. So I am going to reserve the wild card for him. Sky and Shane are assuredly going to be top 10 and I feel no brainer picks.

Oscar too, almost assuredly, will be a top 10'er. He currently is playing great and seems ready, willing and capable of proving it to anyone that doesn't believe it. I believe him.

That leaves only the fifth slot to fill. Who to choose? Of those that are quite likely to be in the top 10 Billy Thorpe would be my choice by a long-shot. He has a big break, shoots as straight as they come and is experienced beyond his years in playing under pressure situations.

1st runner ups and the others likely to be in the top 10 that I would be glad to support, and in no particular order:

Brandon Shuff, playing great and one of, if not the nicest most likeable person in any pool setting. Just not quite there to crack my top 5.
Josh Roberts, real stand up player that deserves to be in the mix, but I feel he just can't get there against my top 5.
Jeremy Jones, playing real good right now, knowledgeable, experienced having been there, real nice guy and would try hard. Just can't crack my top 5.
Justin Hall, played the best the last time he was there, has the ability to play with my top 5. How committed to pool is he, I don't know? May not make the top 10?

As a side note in my opinion Jeremy Jones would have been a great pick as a co-captain.

Just my opinions that's all, nothing more.

That is some grade A politics bull$h1t.

Just because Johnny Archer is co-captain that means Earl MUST be on the team? Or are you saying if Johnny is co-captain, he'll make sure Earl gets on the team, which I'm afraid is even worse.

Um, I'm not sure what you are upset about: "grade A politics bulls$h1t."

It is sometimes true that people may misinterpret the intent of someone's words in print.

Let me take this opportunity to expand my thought expressed previously in hopes to avoid any misinterpretation.

If veteran Johnny Archer can be co-captain, then a veteran may also work on the team as one of the five team members.

I never, ever incinuated that the fix is in for Johnny, as co-captain, to choose Earl. In fact, if you know the history between the two players, that would be pretty unlikely.

Hope that helps to explain my post previous in the thread.

I just found a glaring spelling error from JAM?! What do I win because that isn't going to be something that happens very often? Just having some fun. :grin-square:

I've been doing that a lot lately. :embarrassed2::eek::grin-square::wink::)

This old gray mare just ain't what she used to be.

I love it, though, when people catch 'em because it keeps me on my toes. :)
