Mosconi/Reyes/WPM rankings

Matchroom had invited 16 players to the most recent WPM events before it went on a two-year hiatus. A few months ago, MR announced the event would be expanded to 20 players. The top 14 players in the rankings would get automatic bids and six wild cards would be invited.

Frazer was just referring to the 14 automatic bids. The Philippines Open is the cutoff.

not as bad as i remembered, but definitely would like biado, yapp, fedor. don't care about the geography / market picks, but they'll probably do that

IMO this is not the time for lesser players or less experienced players to get an invite. No AJ Manas - just the best of the best.

If I went by skill and experience, five of my six wild cards would be Biado, Yapp, Gorst, Shaw and Kazakis.

I don't see the point in inviting a Ko brother if they are not coming back at all to the WNT. Not fair to other players. Last I checked, though, WNT was still showing Ko Pin Yi in its WPM promos ...

The final pick I'd give to Hoang or Chang Yu Lun, if normal WNT eligibility rules are in play. If not, Chua would be a juicy pick.

fully agree. well if raga or chua wins this ongoing tourn, then i want them there

The idea that Hohmann would pass on a guaranteed payday of $20,000 for four days work when the AZB money list shows him having $15,500 of prize money won in 2026. On the surface, it seems very silly. If he doesn't want to participate, that's his option. but he is as American as anyone else on Team USA and more American than one of them. If he is somehow omitted and replaced by one of those that has fewer credentials in tournament play in 2026, it will be very sad and will reinforce what most of us already suspect --- Mosconi selection is not merit-based.

Okay, that makes sense; thanks. But it's strange that she never mentioned (at least while I was watching) that there would be 6 additional wild-card spots.
