That cue would have been in pieces of that wobbly 9-ball had not dropped. :o

That cue may have already been sharded from a couple racks prior

Is sharded a word JAM? :p:grin-square:

(looking like we get Thursday off, hope we all see no police)

Do you know where is a schedule for today, KK9? I have been looking but can't find one on the Internet.

Maybe they don't submit the names until the last minute. I'm not sure. It would be fun ot know who's up to bat today! :grin-square:

Yeah, "sharded" is a word.

I'm working on a job today about grief and breavement. How timely! LOL

yeah. the broken sword from Lord of the Rings was called "Shards of Narsil". (nerd alert! nerd alert!):grin-square:

Both Shuff and Dechaine played and did not do well in the Mosconi Cup, especially Dechaine. To win the Cup rather than a few sets here and there, I don't think any younger US players can do it as a team. We need players with the game style and temperament of Archer, Hall, Sigel and Varner rather than the shoot at everything guys like Hatch, Dechaine, Duel and Morris.

Duel is a great player but without his specialty shots to shoot at and make (soft break, caroms, kisses, etc...), he is just an average pro. Those fancy shots will not serve well in the Mosconi Cup in the long run.

You obviously know very little about this game. He's the most talented player to come along in the last 10/15 years. He's far from an average pro. He's average when he practices ZERO. If he did put the time in the game and practice like Earl, SVB, or any of the euros he would be giving them ALL the 8.

Kids got more talent in his pinky then any U.S. Or EURO player. Is he putting it to use? NO. But that's another thing and other things behind that.

Sad thing is, when he's average, he's still a bear, just not the grizzly he was growin up. I take it you can't be older then maybe 23 and really have no idea of how he can play. Or you just lurk around online reading and never got out to see him live a few years back.

For sure, Corey Deuel is a child prodigy and a champion, no question about it. I do wonder how Team USA would have fared, if they would have done better with him on the team this week.

I actually just turned 42 last week and been playing and watching pool for about 24 years. <-- edit.. whoo it's actually been about 26 years if not a bit more, I think I first started going to a pool hall before I even had a license. I have a daughter close to the age you though I was hehe.

His talent is in creative shots, not so much the steady and grinding play players like Hall are known for. A while back on one of the TAR matches, a pro commented when they were talking about Duel how he was the weakest #1 ranked player the tour has seen.

I love how Corey plays, but if you make him play the same standard shots, he is no better than the rest of the pro players. He does see and execute some neat stuff, and I think that is what brings him over to the top tier pro level, along with his creative thinking about the break, no so much his regular position and pocketing play with an open table.

I have to agree with Jumpin' Joe about his stance on Corey Deuel. You do know that Corey Deuel may be the *youngest* to have ever won the U.S. Open. Some say it's Mike Sigel, but I have yet to find their birthdays to compare. ;)

When the UPA came to the scene, Corey, like a few other pros, got disgusted with professional pool. He started playing golf more, but then the lure of the green felt brought him back. He was sponsored by the Seminoles for many years.

I've seen Corey play many times. Because he learned how to play pool as a child in Philly, then emigated to Ohio, playing pool literally became his life as a teenager. Not only is Corey a seasoned veteran today, but he plays all games, unlike the one-trick ponies you see in Europe. Corey adapts to strange equipment must faster than others, too, which is a bonus.

And don't even get me started on him playing with the rake. Corey plays pool better using the mechanical bridge than most play with their shooting cue. He's innovative, creative, and if Corey wants to win, he will win. The problem in recent times has been, I think, his will to win. Not much is attractive in professional pool these days, so who can blame him? Now he's trying his hand in snooker.

Mrs. G. aka gun_slinger found today's Mosconi Cup menu:

Wednesday December 4 - 11.00am local (7pm UK)
Match 11 Strickland & Hatch v Appleton & Souquet
Match 12 Earl Strickland v Karl Boyes
Match 13 Hatch & Morris v Immonen & Feijen
Match 14 Johnny Archer v Ralf Souquet
Match 15 Shane Van Boening v Darren Appleton

it SNOWED this morning!

general concensus here, is that Earl needs to pull this out & play all day.
they don't submit the roster till approx 1 hr before start.

Earl left yesterday @ 3:30 after his match - went back to his room after a 20min rant outside w/ us @ "the rule changes that need to be made" (no side pockets & no jump cues, etc etc) i saw him an hour prior in the hall - he was in a mood then....

and while he was outside, so were Dennis & Johan.
