Most durable felt for Bar Box

Hi Guys:
In your opinion what is the most durable (longer lasting) felt (not worsted) to put on a bar box used in a bar. It can be a nappy felt or a backed felt.

Titan is ok. Mali 865 is better. Both have the same 21 oz weight.
Mali is 80/20 wool while Titan is 75/20 wool so you would expect somewhat better durability from Mali.
Mali color looks a bit better and it's a few bucks less than Titan.

Mali 865 should not be confused with Mali 10820 which is widely available on the web.

What I like about the Titan cloth, is that you can get it in the "Simonis" tournament green color....from a distance it looks like a worsted wool cloth, and because it's shaved down real flat...less shedding, and plays at a very good speed....kind of like the Stevens 22oz Super-weave use to be...before Mali bought them out.

Mali 865 also comes in Tourny Green.
Seems you're describing Ultra - or what we affectionately call the poor mans Simonis. :D

Ultra will wear out about 40% faster than Titan;) because it's Titan shaved down to the bare thread to begin with:D

Did ya think Championship came out with a special weave to create the Ultra?:D Change the shearing process...and you change the cloth:D

Have you used much 865 personally. The 865T is ok but the 865 has gotten more complaints then any cloth i've ever done. Do you like the 10820. I think that is the best home cloth though not as available as the 865 or 865T.

Also, a good thread to ask i presume. Has any body used the mali worsted 100% wool cloth much. I've got a few precuts from Kenny at cincy bill. conn. when he closed. It seems like some heavy duty sh##

Keep in mind, the thicker the cloth is....the deeper the ball track ditches are along the rails, foot spot, rack area, and breaking from the same spot.

207 cuts of 865 out the door so far this year for us with no complaints so I couldn't imagine what's up with your complainers.

have you ever tried milikan it also has teflon to resist spills plays pretty good on a bar box

I try to never have to use it, but a store in town that we use to do alot of installs for would only use 865 because its the cheapest. Sometimes it seemed very thin and it would stretch for days and i remember customers complaining about how quickly it would get holes. He actually replaced a few bed cloths if i remember correctly.

I do think the 865T is not bad though. I prefer it over invitational Tef. And 10820 over Titan but i don't know where to get it wholesale with Kenny closing. I've been getting cloth and stuff from billiard wholesalers for a while but they only do the 865's

Pooldawg sells 10820 so you might contact Cuestix to get some.
IMO you blame the player for holes, not the cloth.

I've used the 865 with no complaints, but if you're going to get 865, I recommend 865T (Teflon) especially in a bar. I'd say the majority of what I've used for 10 years is the 10820, which I also ordered from Ken at Cincinnati Billiard Connection. It's heavy and durable and good for home use.
