Ronnie Allen is who Fast Eddie Felson was based on? Just like Wanderone was who Minnesota Fats was based on right?

Guess no one ever told Walter Tevis that. He claimed time and again both characters were complete fiction.

Why not Ronnie Allen or any of the other guys who claim they were the one. If he invented the character, he had to get his idea from somewhere. The character may be based on one or all the players who claim to be the real Fast Eddie.The story as I heard it was Tevis was watching this brash young player at Cochran's in San Francisco (Ronnie Allen) & the character he invented (Fast Eddie) started at this point. It has been documented by others over the years and like all things you can't really know for sure, is believeable to some and not believed by others. I'm an old timer and choose to believe it.
