Mother Drills Folder

I happened to run across the folder Scott Lee gave me about ten years ago on their Mother Drills. A lot of good reading in there. Might have to go over it again and see if there is anything in there than can help my game.

I also found a sheet Mark Wilson gave me when I was over at his place back in 2004. It said something about most people that miss think the problem is faulty aiming. But really it may very well be stroke related.

I might have to look through this material later tonight when I am having my cigar and watching The Streets Of San Francisco.

"A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition. Like money, books must be kept in constant circulation... A book is not only a friend, it makes friends for you. When you have possessed a book with mind and spirit, you are enriched. But when you pass it on you are enriched threefold."

Henry Miller, The Books in My Life

I'm sure it's more often stroke related. Aiming itself is stroke related: it's harder to learn to aim with a gun that doesn't shoot straight.

Nice analogy. Stroke makes a huge difference especially if you are unintentionally putting side spin in the cue ball.

I do have a question regarding the Mother Drills and the folder that Scott Lee gave me about ten years ago when I took a lesson from him.

Its my understanding the Mother Drills are proprietary. Having said that, I have someone that wants me to send him a copy of what I have.

Should I? I've pm'd a couple of PBIA instructors but have gotten no response back so I thought I would ask here.

the mother drills were designed to be taught and explained to the student by a pbia instructor
so giving someone the booklet by itself they will not get the maximum benefit
if it is indeed proprietary it would be technically against the law to share it without permission

I think that unless there was an agreement by DCP that he would not show the handout to someone else -- typically that would be through a non-disclosure agreement -- there is no law that prevents him from doing so, to the best of my knowledge.

Making a copy is a different matter and the handout is automatically covered in the US by copyright law, so what he proposed might well be illegal.

I've sent PM's to three PBIA Instructors regarding this very issue and have not heard anything back from them. Assume the past is playing into the present here. It is what it is, I guess.

MOTHER DRILLS are only from SPF Instructors.

The MOTHER DRILLS were formulated in 1986 by the SPF Family of Instructors.
They are in addition to hands on instruction!

Just contact Scott Lee or try Tommy Hill who is certified.
I've taken the course & assisted Tommy conducting a seminar.

Without explanation and guidance, or in other words, instruction by a
PBIA professional, the Mother Drills alone won't accomplish or elevate
your game. You can put pennies on the table, practice a 2 vs 4 speed
for stroking but it's the explanation and instruction that accompanies
the Mother Drills which make it all the more worthwhile.

If just reading material was the fix, colleges would just consist of a
huge library encompassing every subject but without professors or
instructors to elaborate, clarify, explain, assess and offer guidance
and advice to students to assist them to understand and master the
curriculum. Take the time to attend a class if you want to improve.

Sure, go ahead and send them.

Do you have the 2018 version?

randy
how much different is the 2018 version???
i took lessons from scott many years ago (actually more than one lesson)
i would like a 2018 version
how much will it cost me
you can pm me if you dont want that public

The reply I offered was to contact Scott Lee or Tommy hill, who is a PBIA Instructor, with your query.

If you fail to reach them, then the answer is "No.". You do not give away another person's proprietary
materials. I'm sure I've done this in the past by copying some pages from one of the several books I
have to give someone, It was always some shot illustration with an explanation but nonetheless,
a little is still a lot when it comes to legality and morality. It was not the right thing to do but I still did it.

If someone asked me to copy an entire book or lesson manual, I would advise them to simply go and
acquire the material for themself. Sharing bits and pieces of helpful information seems different than
just copying another person's entire intellectual property and saying here ya go. I advise not doing it.

Randy G. is sort of the Head Man when it comes to these types of things. He already gave me the green light to copy and send. I've tried to contact Scott Lee twice in the last month or so to get his thoughts but I've not had any luck/response.
