motherofpearl Promo Cue review

**** now i know I'm in trouble when i cant give em away BUT before i go , your now saying the mother of pearl is plastic?.

Well its been fun , its funny how different people are when you first arrive here and offer something for nothing , people are as nice as pie , kissing your arse , i guess thats life.

Well ill take this road show elsewhere. Its obvious that my time here has expired.

Remember, when i finally make my million from this ill remember how much flack i got here lol.

its been fun

Sure, anyone showing up with free stuff is welcomed. Why not, no one has any risk. But when you ask them to trade you many hours of their work for your stuff then they get a bit more cautious.

I don't know if the MOP looking handles are plastic. I seem to remember that there is no abalone in the world big enough to make 360 degree 12" inlays, tubes, or however it was done. The handles LOOK like the same plastic that other cue makers use to make MOP rings. So I am assuming that the handles are made of plastic rod rather than genuine shells.

As for the little inlays they could be real, I can't tell based on the pictures and I don't think anyone else can either. Making plastic look like real MOP has been perfected since the 50s at least. But even if it's real so what? MOP is easy to get it's not like there is a shortage or a ban. I can go across the harbor here and get you shells by the truckload.

Listen, if you make a million selling these cues then you can tell us all off. I can tell you for a fact that there are people in the world making millions selling cues that are far worse than what you have shown us here. Those cues would get roasted here as well. You need to find that outlet. I can tell you that Sears, K-Mart and WalMart are three places you can start but good luck getting in the door.

Curious…

I have a high level of respect for at least one of your countrymen as a cue maker and a good man and father. and his cues come with a 100% warranty.

I respect your politeness in not throwing in a name here, but would nonetheless be curious whom you have in mind (feel free to PM me if you prefer) - thanks in advance!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

I have to say.

The shaft on this cue is worth more than $100.00. I know a few cue makers that would love a couple of these blanks. I would rate it between A and AA. That is basicly a $200 shaft. I showed the cue to a old hustler buddy that uses a very expensive shaft on his cue and used to own a bar with 4 bar tables and a 4 1/2 x 9 in it and right away he said look at that shaft. Picked up and said this is a tripple A shaft. Staired at it for a little then said no the grain isn't tight enough. But man it is a double A shaft for sure. Where the #uck did they get this wood.

Nick :)

That's very interesting. I basically look at my Audrick cues that way. The shafts are straight after four years and are worth more than I paid for the entire cue. Probably AA shafts...but I am no expert.

But in the case of my Audricks the butt is beautiful, well made, and not cracked anywhere.

Should we consider buying these cues for the shafts?

Great update! Thanks!

My buddy and I used to deal in alot of these cues for bar players who weren't
looking to spend alot of money.I think its all up to what your looking for.If your looking for a perfect glass like finish and flawless inlay work I would say these cues may not be your cup of tea,but if your looking for a real inlayed cue that plays good at a reasonable price, then it might be for you.Goodluck

post away

..I wish it was in good taste to post the average "street price" of this style cue in Manila, and I'm not talking about prices in the tourist areas either :D

Everyone loves a smart ass

Be my guest dont be shy , can you also post the "street price" of the costs associated with the import of these cues?. Don't try and tell me that ANY business sells their product for cost unless they are closing down!.

People that have no idea amaze me sometimes!

Just curious, did you ever approach the maker about the quality issues with the cue you sent for review? Is he willing to help or address these issues? It seems to me if he cares about the product he's making he would be jumping at the bit (and halting production) to find solutions to cracked cues.

well here we fo agIN
