Mothers Billiards,Charlotte NC

i went in there in early 93 and saw Tony Watson. Id seen him earlier, about 6 mos ago in Chicago and he had this huge knot of money. He recognized me and came up to chat with me. He said, remember that huge bankroll I had? well not much longer after that, someone put a gun in my mouth and took that from me in the parking lot of waffle house.

I think I still have a book of matches I got from mothers Billiards 18 years ago in my matchbook collection.
The time he got robbed that I knew of was a couple of years after that right after he left Nashville, it was either '95 or '96.

You know you are rolling bad if you get stuck up at a Waffle House.......twice.;)

More Mother's

I remember watching PatchEye play Efren $100 one-pocket.

I miss the weekly Monday night tournaments and the ring-games afterward with me, Whitey, CJ Underwood, Q-Head, Charlie and others. Great times!

I use to practice with Eva in the afternoons - when she lived in Charlotte.

Oh ---- the good old days.

Not many places left where you could walk in on a Tuesday afternoon and find 3 world champions practicing on 3 tables.

I was there the night Patch and Efren played,Patch was getting 10-6,and Efren beat up on him pretty good. The Monday night tournaments were the best, the ring game was pretty tough game back then.Eva,Gerta, and Allison I guess were the best Women players back then.Searcy played every human that came through Charlotte back then, best action room ever(non-stop)....KT

Sad that I missed this scene. I moved to NC in 95 and didn't really venture outside of the pool halls around Hickory. I also took a 10 vacation from the game, but I am damn glad to be back and this area still has a pretty good pool scene

George and Irene Dowdy were a class act. I think George passed away about two years ago. What a good ole boy he was! I sure did like him.

Mother's used to be close to my sales territory, and I used to stop in there often, in the late afternoon. It was right after Kelly, and her husband took over. It was great watching Allison, Gerta, and Eva, and I played occasionally, in the back room. I quit stopping in, after about a year, because it had changed.
