motor controll question

I have a 7X12 mini lathe and I have repaired one of those controllers after it burnt out the main drive transistors. They have a few problems sometimes.

For the price of that controller, you can buy a 1/2 hp dc motor and the controller from penn state industries. This setup is the same as on my Hightower lathe. I have been using it for over 2 years. I think Chris has since gone to another controller.

I also have the penn state industries setup on a spinner for sanding and finishing and it works perfectly. The motor that came with that setup is labeled as 1 hp.

You can get the 1/3 hp controllers for under 30 you just need to know where to look.It took me a year or two

I honestly can't say anything about that controller, good or bad. I'm sure if you buy it,it will work if you wire it right or have someone else do it.

I bought a used controller that has been rock solid for 2 years and paid 75.00 for it. It has the KB Electronics KBLC-240D? board. You can get those on eBay for about what I paid for my whole box,and buy the rest of the parts you need from LMS and do the work yourself, and maybe save a little plus feel good about doing it yourself, and maybe even customize it some.

I can hook you up thru PM with the same guy that I got my controller from if you want. He's a Power Seller that parts out brand-new basic HF versions of the mini lathe, and offers single replacement parts, and cares enough and has enough knowledge to sell you a wired up controller that will work 100%,because he wired it and checked it out.

If you buy the board and other parts,he might even build you a controller that is PROVEN. He'll even give you a little kickback if you send him your burnt controller. He did for me.

That's what I'd do,Tommy D.
