Got any questions ???????

Hey guys,I just got this cue.Bought it as a Paul Mottey jump break.I saw a guy in my local hall with a high end one. What gave it away to me was the joint at the jump portion.I hope I was right.I gambled a little on this one and probably paid to much, but I wanted it.Breaks good, plays even better, jumps long distance great, not so good close. All finish has been sanded off. That is the reason for no sig.So what do you guys think? What is it worth?Would you alter the cue,or should it stay the way Paul,or whoever made it?
Thanks
Craig

Either that's a one of a kind or it's been altered by someone. Why I say that is because I have owned a couple of Mottey jump breaks and have seen several and I have never seen a collar at the jump section on a Mottey. I've seen altered Mottey jump breaks and with a collar at the jump section but stiil not one that big. Nice cue though. I would definetly get a finish on it.

Did the person you got it from tell you it was a Mottey. There was one on here recently for sale and I had a chance to buy another one a few months ago. If I remember right, the jump joint was similar and I think it was a steel jointed cue as well. It only had a Predaotr shaft and I think it was $300 to $400 in price. Im sure if you contacted Paul he would remember the cue because of the design in the butt.

Thanks for the reply guys. There was no promises with this cue.I really did take a chance on the purchase, but the joint gave it away.As you know,Paul is not making any more of these and best I can tell from AZ,has not been for some time.So for me,it was a gamble. As far as I know, the shaft is original. The collars and rings meet perfect. It is in sanded condition with NO signature.I do not care.If this cue is original,I will take it to my grave.Kind of crazy to think of a conversion on a Mottey though.I just cant get that guys high end Mottey jump break out of my stupid head.Man it was sweet. He said,1800.00.You know,I do not think he knows that Paul is not making cues any more. And you know what,I am probably the only schmuck to tell him!Man what a cue.I thought it was a player. No,his player was a one off Richard Black.Who is the idiot? That would be me.
Hey guys, thank you so much for taking the time.
Time is priceless!

It is definitely different from any Mottey J/B cue that I have ever seen or owned. Paul isn't building cues, but he is still around. I would suggest that you send pix to James White and let him take a look and maybe show them to Paul. It is a tough sale without a signature or any authentication...neat cue, though.

Here are pix of a "typical" Mottey J/B cue.
