Movable Table?

Before I go any further I want everyone to know I haven’t smoked one of those funny cigarettes in a few years.

There are thousands of pool players that would have a table in their home if it would fit. Why can’t someone build an electric or hydraulic cradle that the table sits on and would stay level?

Let’s say that your room is short on one side by less than two foot. When that shot comes up you just push a button and the table moves away from the wall as much as you need. What do you think? Crazy idea? Johnnyt

interesting theory. Haven't heard of anything like that but one of the bars I play at has a trap door and the table comes right up out of the floor. They do this to get the extra space until after dinner time. Amazingly enough, the table stays level.

The best one I ever saw was in some small to town in upstate NY in the 1950's. They had a full size coin operated 4.5 x 9 in a small bar. There was a about a one foot section on a corner of the table you would hit the wall with... even with a short cue..so they put a window in the wall that opened out like a door. You just let the butt of your cue go out the window on those shots. Must have been a bi*** on rainy days tho. Johnnyt

anyone that manfactures hydraulic systems ect.can do it.cost ? $100,000.00 or more to have a $2,000.00 table level ! a table was made for a cruise line .it stays level with an automatic leveling system .your better off moving or playing at a hall.

Thank you Cuejoey. Well that puts and end to that idea. I guess I'll stick to the moveable wall.:D Johnnyt

Best one I ever saw was on a recovery job...customer had a bar table in a basement that was about 6 inches short all the way around ...the guy was a renter of the house...he took a sledge to the block foundation and busted out the walls so he had room...he didnt even remove the busted out peices...But he had room then...can you bleive it!

Not unlike the origin of shooting "in the kitchen", which allegedly came from the need to break while standing in the adjacent kitchen. I actually had such a set-up in a small home room once. It worked, and we got a few laughs about it, too.

That might work LOL. Good luck with sales of the book. Johnnyt

Thanks... it was an RSB project originally.

That photo is licensed from National Geographic and was taken in China where they apparently haven't many homes big enough to accomodate a standard pool table. They play in the village square instead... and pray it doesn't rain.
