Move over Mike Massey.

Those were indeed some pretty crazy shots. Not to say that he doesn't have a powerful stroke, but aren't 3 cushion tables heated and tend to run faster than a pool table. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong. Also did anyone notice what kind of tip he was using on the cue? It looks to be a phenolic tip to me.

He's using a normal leather tip, these shots are impossible with a phenolic tip. Three cushion tabels are heated, which makes them run faster, but on some of these shots Semih used Silicone spray on the cueball, to make it slide much longer before gripping the cloth. I posted this vid about a month ago, glad some more people enjoyed it. Semih rules!

it's a normal leather tip...phenolic tips will not grab. yes the tables are heated and play perfectly, because the subtleties of the game require it.

but the knowledge involved to execute these shots revolves around speed/english control, and when one takes over the other. that is why the cb will do one thing and then totally changes it's path and do another.

The European mfg. 3C tables are heated. IMO I don't feel the heat adds much distance. Other countries around the world it's common to not have adequate HVAC systems so the heat will keep the cloth free from the effects of humidity. Speed comes from the the rubber used and the extremely heavy duty construction of these table not to mention the extremely fast cloth.

As far as the use of silicone on the CB is concerned I suppose it's possible but I don't think Mr. Sayginer would need any more slide on the table than what brand new cloth would give him. Besides if there's un-natural slide the CB becomes uncontrollable. I've seen world contenders miss the break shot and simple naturals because of artificial slide added to the table and balls.

The cue used is likely to be strictly made for masse. Very heavy, with soft leather 14mm tip.

It looked like a red phenolic type ferrule to me...probably something ultrahigh strength to take the forces of all that masse'.....as I recall 3 cushion balls are lighter too which makes 'em easier to spin...

Semih has the stroke to do his exhibition shots on unheated slow tables with no silicone. He just strokes the shots harder as required (if you can imagine that). In his last exhibition at the Sang Lee International Open last August, Semih, Roberto Rojas (also amazing) and Miguel Torres did a three man exhibition at Carom Cafe. Semih Sayginer is a real personality on and off the table (a real "ham" and a funny guy). A couple of months ago, Semih told me that he did an exhibition in front of 50,000 fans in the middle of a Porto soccer stadium! I would have paid a lot of money to see that.

The DVD of the TV show that aired last month is available on my website: highrockproductions.com.

Semih uses regular leather tips (layered) - not phenolic. For those of you who are interested in watching 3-cushion, he will be in NYC again August 13-20th playing at the 2006 Sang Lee International Open in Queens - he came in second place last year in the main event with a 1.988 average (after Blomdahl who averaged 2.006)

The truth is he can make these shots anywhere or at least this is what I can see by watching him. Another fact is billiard balls are heavier than pool balls. Another less known fact some masse shots can be made with fanolic tips.
I do understand the undertone of doubt that surrounds trick shots. The truth is this guy is for real and is no joke. Whether he uses silicon or heated slate has very little to do with this fact. Another fact we all need to show this man some respect. He took the time to learn his art and chooses to share it with one and all.

I did not look at the video, and at the risk of incurring great wrath, is this the same video that was at caromtv.com or caromcafe.com ? I just checked and the video is no longer there, but check out the 'vbr' (virtual billiard room), there are some excellent animations of Semihs 'trick' shots (very nice 3-cushion shots).

Very impressive. He has developed an amazing ability.
Jamison is a pretty impressive trick shot shooter himself. How he came up with "fanolic" after 5 instances of the correct spelling in the posts above leaves me stumped, however.
