Moved back to Indy... Where are the tournaments?

Hey guys I just moved back to Indianapolis from Birmingham and I'm trying to figure out where some good weekly tourneys are. I grew up here but I didn't get into pool seriously until I moved to Alabama. I know about Lags in Columbus and the Kips tourney on Sunday already but I'm wondering if there is anything else going on? I'd love to find a good 9 ball tourney that's not all the way down in Columbus.

Indy is a weird city .
As big as it is there is only 1 real pool hall .

Yeah it's pretty disappointing. There are a ton more players here than there are in Birmingham to support a few pool halls. Down there it's almost like there is too many places for the amount of players but up here people are begging for a good place to play. Maybe I'll open another place up one of these days.

Yeah Indy is really strange in the fact that so many cities that are smaller with fewer players have more rooms and places to play. During the Fall and Winter the Knifelys usually put on some tournaments at Brickyard. Also, I think 10th St Pub has tournaments sometimes, but I don't think they are weekly.

Jim? I played him first round at the last big 9 ball tourney at brickyard. Hell of a nice guy. I put on a lot of tourneys at my bar down in Birmingham and after I closed my place I had a great 9 ball modified handicap format I was running at bumpers that was getting 30+ players every Sunday. I might have to talk to Kips or Brickyard and see if I can get something going. I live up in noblesville though so hopefully Kips will be down to do something on Friday nights since they already have Sunday 8 ball.

A Friday tournament would be excellent. I never get a chance to play in the Sunday Kip's tournaments because Sunday nights I try to decompress and turn in early for work on Monday.

Kips doesn't maintain their equipment, and their service has gone way down hill.

Brickyard has lots of people to play for free or cheap, if you like to match up.
If you are just looking for tournaments, and Columbus is too far, then Kokomo is just as far, and they have the Ryno room with tournaments. Assorted places all over.

Evansville has good tournies and 40 + diamonds around town...best action in the state imo...lot of free tables on certian days

Just as far as Kokomo, but marions sports bar is getting ready to start back up tonight. Usually a good tournament in the winter, often 30+ players.

I'm in noblesville so Kokomo is a lot closer for me. Looks like Ryno room has the longer race 9 ball tourney which is exactly what I'm looking for. It's amazing to me that if you live in Indy you have to leave the biggest city in the state to find a good weekly tournament. I called brickyard billiards yesterday and they have no tournament scheduled until the big 9 ball tourney in October. Pretty sad if you ask me.

There are tournaments before that.

Indy is more of an action city.

Summer is a slow time for tournaments. The turnout will usually be small. In a few months, the turnouts will increase. I believe Brickyard will start their Friday tournament again in the fall. Kips Sunday tournament isn't bad.
