Moving a Connelly - Brunswick

I have a table that is still under warranty with Connelly. And it recently has developed some bumps under the felt. Just a few, and they are small, but they do affect the roll now and then.

Now to my real question. I'm in the process of moving and I need the table moved. I got a quote from Connelly of $350, which I thought was pretty high. I have the 2 guys coming out tomorrow to look at the table.

They will come out, take apart the table, fix the slate issues and put it back together free of charge.

Now, Can I ask the two guys to move the table to a different house (15 miles) and set it up? And I'll pay them some money under the table?

How much? Even if they have to come back and do it after they are done with work that is cool.

Any help I would appreciate it!

Thanks!!

The $350 is reasonable to move a table. I'm a little bit less out here, but prices are pretty regional, so $350 could be about right. The bad part is, Connelly may have a clause in their warranty that they have to move it to maintain that warranty. That's pretty common.

If you pay the guys on the side to move it while they've got it apart, there's nothing that protects you from your warranty being voided.

I would ask Connelly what they would charge just to move it considering they will already have to have it torn down to address the slate issues.

Your hands may be somewhat tied though if you don't want to void your warranty. They can kind of call the shots at this point unfortunately.

I'm not too concerned if they read it or not. This is the 2nd time I had to have them out to fix the table and it's only 2 years old. I have no idea how these bumps pop up under the felt, but it had to be something with the wax, because they are around the splits between each piece of slate.

I'll probably just talk with the guys and see what we can do. I understand about the warranty issues and if this happens again I'll be screwed.

Personally, I think it's pretty ridiculous that I have to call them once, let alone twice. Moving the table should be something they do as good customer service anyway, but probably won't because I think good customer service has become a lost art as of late, but I'll save that for another post.

The slates can shift slightly and it pinches out the wax or any joint filler. The key is screwing the slates down tightly and gluing the joints. Did the same guys install it and then return to fix the joints? Hope you get your table set up to your satisfaction.

One of the original guys was there the second time but the other guy was a "new guy". I think he was learning the ropes.

The first time I had them out it was a lot worse. A huge area on both ends of the table and the foot piece of slate was up a little bit. Now I only have a few bumps on one end. And just one that I found on the other side.

The only way to keep the warranty is to have them move it and set it up. I think I might be better off getting someone else to set it up for me.

Who knows... Thanks Mechanic/Player

Let me know if I can help you out with this. I awill get it set up for your right the first time. What model table is it?

Not trying to knock anyone, but I just moved a beautiful 9' Brunswick Montebello table today that was previously moved by the folks over at Connelly, and it was not the best set up in the world. You could feel both seams all the way across the table under the Simonis, and 2 sets of old staples were in the backing all around the table. I have seen some tables set up very well from them, but others not so much.

Say goodbye to your warranty unless you use Connelly to move. If you have so many problems with there service call their national sales manager. He is not impressed with hack work and he will make sure you handled with care.

They just called and said they will miss the original window of between 9 - noon today. So I'll have to miss even more work today. Great!

I'm going to ask the guys if they can move the table for less than $350, if not, I'll see if they can just take it down and I'll move it myself and have someone else put it back together. Reverend, I might be PM'ing you.

Also, if you do other work like this around Arizona, email it to me at AZPoolScene@hotmail.com as I run the website and can probably get you more business.

The model is the 8' Brunswick Amherst.

I'd love to be able to sell this table and get a 9 footer, or possibly a oversized 8. Diamond, GC, etc.

I tired emailing you, but got the email sent back and said it is not a good address.
