I retired as of Dec 31,2013 after 53 years of working WOOOHOOOOO!!. :)>) Most of my belongings sit in front of my home in Colorado Springs in a POD waiting for PODS to pick it up and delivery to the Tucson AZ area later this month. This camping out in an empty home is getting old!! :>( We are looking forward to our new life in Saddlebrooke AZ, 30 miles north of Tucson. As soon as I get settled I plan to visit Clicks and Pockets, I know some AZBrs hang out at these establishments. I would love to meet you and start to make new friends and contacts. Our new community does have a small billiard room in an old starter shack on one of the golf courses with 2 8ft tbls (1/2 mile from my house). The closest tables outside of the community I think are at Putney’s Sports Bar (couple bar boxes) which is about 15 miles south of me on Oracle, Pockets and Clicks are between 22 and 32 miles from me. If anyone knows of anything closer please advise.

Hey Joe, good luck with the move and hope it's all you want it to be! Congrats on retirement!

Wonder if the Biosphere's are still there in Oracle.
I worked on that project.
Don't blame you for leaving Colorado, I envy you for making the move.

I have a ex brother in law who lives in Saddle Brooke, he is into Golf, Shooting, and Bicycle riding. All are close, or right there in Saddle Brooke. Saddlebrook is full of Rattle Snake, coyotes, and other wild life, so be careful walking around at night. Bet the Realitor who sold you your home did not warn you about snake bites.

The local Oro Valley Police love writting SPEEDING TICKETS in their City that you will be going threw alot if you go to Tuscon. Beware, and Obay the Speed Laws, or you will be making the city of Oro Valley richer.

Last time I was in Oracale about 18 months ago the Biosphere was still a tourist attraction.

Thanks Ray for the kind wishes. I'm a little scared because I've never retired before. I'll wave as we drive thru Albuquerque on Thursday.

The Biosphere is still there, it has changed hands a couple of times with different groups trying to keep it going. We were there about 4 years ago it's very interesting to take the tour and listen to it's history. It is about 5 miles north of where I'm going. Looking forward to the heat, we have been in Colorado since 1974 and prior to that Chicago both a little colder than Tucson.

As a matter of fact our realtor did warn us. I've seen the wildlife there already. My wife was at our home in September and found 2 snakes in the garage. I don't like those critters, had her get some steel wool to plug the openings in the garage. We will be careful once we get there next week. Coco, I will have to make a trip up to where you are and bang some around with you, from what I remember from your posts your community has a pretty large billiard facility.

That was a big project, especially from a temperature & environmental control standpoint.
Do you know if all of those systems are still in operation?
The maintenance on all of the controls & equipment has to be ridiculous.

Have a great time in AZ Joe. It was nice knowing you in the Springs.....however, I think a change of scenery is always a good thing.

Regards,

Doug

Good luck with your retirement jgpool. I lived in the Phoenix area when the Biosphere was being constructed. The wife and I drove down and took the tour. It was pretty interesting that the "Biospherians" were going to be sealed inside and be self sufficient for a year or longer. Didn't turn out that way though. It was an experiment supported by some billionaire and fueled by hype. Not sure much ever came of it. No scientific breakthroughs I can remember.

Good luck in southern arizona. Personally 1/2 year in co springs and other 1/2 in Tucson sounds ideal to me.

I think you will love Tucson Joe. Congratulation on your retirement. I've been retired for 9 years now and they are the best years of my life. I wish you all the best my friend.

Hi Joe!

I'm living in Oro Valley. (off Tangerine Rd)

I see you play golf as well as pool. Saddlebrooke has 3 nice courses as you probably know by now. Lots more courses close by. I haven't played much this year, hate to go alone. My old partner took a new job, and he rarely gets time off anymore. :(

It's a pretty good drive to play pool from our end of town. About 45 mins to Pockets, which is where I play. (best tables for sure)

Let me know when you get out this way and we'll hit some........... golf or pool.

Rick

Joe, you might find The Fox and Hound on La Cholla closest to Saddlebrook but not much happens there other than league play in the evenings. They have some 8' and a couple of 9' older Diamonds with HUGE pockets. There is a gentleman that lives in Saddlebrook that frequents Click's who may be able to steer you around Tucson at first.

Welcome to Tucson, stop in at Click's (closer to Saddlebrook) or Pocket's (full service pool hall & more tables) I'm sure you will find both places will provide some entertainment and action if that's what you seek.

Not sure if all systems are working. Trying to duplicate Mother Nature is an impossible monumental task, I am surprised it has lasted this long. Sh!t, if they wanted to do this right they should get Al Gore's advice. :):)

Hey Doug,

Thanks for the kind words. You're right, a change can always be good. Oh yea, thanks for the one pocket lessons. The only time I have ever played one pocket was with you.

Thanks for the wish of good luck. They should have consulted with Al Gore! ;)

Thanks for the kind words. We have talked about doing the half & half and decided not to. We still could do that at some point, I have 2 rentals still in Colorado Springs.

I have been a little scared to retire since I don't know what to expect with 9 more open hours a day. I have been told by numerous retired people that after about 3 months I will be wondering where I found the time to go to work.
