Here's the specs for the US Open pockets just got this info a few minutes ago.
4'' corners with a 5/16'' facing.
Basically their 4 1/8'' with a thicker facing.
Got this from the mechanic setting up all the tables in Atlantic City.
This is what MR wanted and what they are getting.
Niels comments were valid.

1/16" of added facing thickness won't change the playability in terms of pocket rattle much if any. That said, 5/16th is on the heavy side. The density of the materials used will be the bigger factor. Any chance your source can give you the durometer rating...? As I mentioned in one of the very recent pocket discussions. I'm not surprised Diamond isn't providing MR ready tables to keep the facing material down. Not like the USopen is the biggest NA event of the year or anything. We already know the 4" Diamond is a neutered version of pool.

Can't imagine this year's event will play any differently than last's.

Hopefully I place well enough in my qualifier to have another crack at those tables.

What were the comments by Niels, who I'm assuming is Neils Feijen.

3 7/8" was too small, bad for the tournament, yada yada...

The 3 7/8ths looked like plain rubber ends.

Did you get a spec for the side pockets?

Subrail being?

Just took a look, can definitely see the facing outline. Isn't the cushion all rubber?
Nope. This is a bar table rail, but a Brunswick or Diamond will be similar, the front part of the rail is just not detachable.
You can see where the facing has been taking impacts well behind the rubber. Without facings, you'd hear a horrible noise when the balls hit the wood, and you'd probably tear through the cloth pretty quick, and definitely damage the rail. Even using facings that are too thin can damage rails over time.

Perhaps you mean "durometer" rating. I don't think density is usually a rubber design parameter for pocket facings.
100%, but not everyone knows what a durometer is and what it's used for. That said, there's also no durometer unit of measure. Just a scale of 0-100 (soft to hard) that can be broken down into ranges of rubber hardness (density). The more dense, the harder to compress, the "harder" the material. Was just trying to use a commonly used word that has a tactile relationship for people to grasp.

OK I get it. The Diamonds are deep enough to involve the wood. Thanks.

I thought I had a pic with the facing trimmed at the back but couldn't find it in short order. The facing material extends back far enough until the pocket liner takes over. Without the facing material, the cloth would be beaten into oblivion in short order.
