I think he read this publication,or someone told him.

I hope he is fixing, but now I`m not amazed.

"Bad situation for both you guys" OK, what else should I have done?

News ??

Hey Konstantin,

are there some News to this Thread ??

Did you receive your cues ??

Regards
Berny

ive never gotten a bad vibe from bill. ive bs'd with him and a number of times simply picked up the phone and called him. hes always been there

im not defending bill but once you hit a certin "status" as a cuemaker im sure your time is very valueable.

throwing health issues in im sure it isnt easy. he is not a young man

i could only imagine what his day consists of. i am literally "nobody" in this buisness and my phone never stops ringing for repairs. i accually avoid the poolroom from time to time just to have a day off. its a hastle when i cant even play pool in peace.

i am heathy and there are days i just do not want to go in the shop.

thats being said 18 months is too long for anything IMO

flower -R- can do anything youd like in a very fast timeframe and at a very reasonable price.
i hope there is no ivory in them cues sending them over seas and all. i would imagine a 4.5k -5k cue would have some ivory somewhere:D

Bill Schick

Bill has treated me with courtesy and professionalism. He returns my contacts and has never let me down. I know him to be an honorable cuemaker. I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience Konstantin, but I can't say I have ever experienced anything from Bill that fits the picture you have painted. To me it seems like something is missing.

I don't want to offend, and it is just my opinion, but when dealing with one of the top artisans in the entire world, pushing deadlines and making demands may not be the best course. Getting their work...even at their timetable is a priveledge. There is only one Bill Schick but thousands of Schick customers.

Konstantin....you currently are advertising a Schick cue for sale. Is it one of the cues mentioned in this thread??

bravo!!!

I agree!!

GEM Cues Aka Gary Medlin

Time to derail this thread a bit.

Someone brought up the name Gary Medlin in Louisiana, I don't own one of his cues, and I've never met the man, but one of my ex teammates had purchased several cues from GEM cues. They were very well made, and I enjoyed shooting with the cue that he currently had (it was a simple player with a J/B joint).

Sorry to jump in like this, but I thought it was unfair to imply that his cues were not quality pieces of work. Just because someone is not widely known does not mean that his cues are not quality.

I know that that was not necessarily the implication of that post, however it could be read that way.

I totally agree with this post. If Bill isn't in good enough health to do the job as promised.. then don't agree to do the work. It's as simple as that.

Sounds like everybody is being a little hard on Konstantin. I happen to agree with him. I also think it of interest to all of us that have cues, that a cuemaker, regardless of whom they are, is unable to do the work he agreed to do for over a year. We are talking repairs, not new cues. If I was going to have a BS cue refinished, I would like to know he is having that much trouble. This is were I would pass it along to my friends so they would not be put in the same position.

While I am sensitive to Bills medical problems, its not the customers reponsibility to wait this long, period. Bill should have adjusted his workload, based on his medical condition, so he can complete what he can do, in a reasonably timely manner. Of course there are always some short delays. 18 months for a repair is completely out of line. The communications, and lack of them, if true, are misleading the customer.

As much as I love Searing cues, I wouldn't give, or expect, Dennis to take 18 months, and counting, to make a repair. And we all know he is slow and meticulous.

Sorry Nick, but that is total baloney. No one is lucky to have someone, anyone, hold their cues for 18 months for a repair and then not keep them completely informed of any problems with the work. Remember, if true, it was done and being sprayed in December?

Konstantin, I hope you get your cues back, and/or some explanation of what happened. Bill is reputable, and I think you will get more than you expect.

I'm attempting to read this post but I have to admit... I'm totally lost. lol. Really hard to understand what you mean here. lol. You started with one cue and now you have two? Or you sent off two cues? I dunno. lol.. The second cue was a simple 4 pointer but he broke it and sent you a higher end cue? You got me man I'm totally lost. lol..

I think just the opposite was intended, as it appears to have implied that Gary's cues were even superior to Bill Schick's! I don't necessarily agree with that statement either, but Gary is a great guy and makes a great cue. I have had a couple. I live in Lafayette and know Gary, Bill, Mike Wheeler, and Mike Johnson, and all are fine cuemakers. Gary has also been known to be very slow in turnaround, but he makes no bones about that and you know it walking in the door. He doesn't make cues for a living.

Good luck, Im sure everything will work in the end.
Just think how nice thay will look when you get them
back. Wallace
