Muslim snooker player makes news vs Ronnie

It is an accidental issue that the company has this reference...but you still would choose to wear a different company logo. If my sponsor had an emblem that just happened to look like a swostika, I sure wouldn't put it on my chest. Common sense. You never know what the "crazies" are thinking.

one British snooker blogger with a good sense of humor inspired that 1SiS --> iSiS sponsor patch story. Funny it hit the news (well, Daily Mail is on for such stories)

If your company is named "ISIS Business Solutions," let me offer you one solution to save your business: change your name; it's only going to get worse.

Daily Mail loves to dig up such sensations but most men prefer its rival paper The Sun with its Page 3 double sensations :D

<Big-time facepalm>

In my own world (enterprise networking), there is a routing protocol called "ISIS". (It's actually IS-IS, which stands for "Intermediate System to Intermediate System", but you'll hear it spoken as "ISIS" -- it rolls right off the tongue.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IS-IS
(Although yes, because of the dash/minus-sign, one really should say "eye ess, eye ess" -- that's not what you'll hear in data centers. It's just like QoS -- which stands for "Quality of Service" and you technically should say "cue oh ess" -- is colloquially pronounced "kwos".)

So, when I'm up at the podium / whiteboard drawing out enterprise networks for customers, do I have to clarify everytime I say the word "ISIS" that I'm not a member of the terrorist group nor am I trying to advertise it, and I'm not trying to subliminally plant recruitment hints in people's minds nor covertly communicating terror plans?

Sometimes the "fear-mongering" aspect of the human race really intrigues me.

-Sean <-- "good luck" getting the routing protocol's acronym changed

no resentment towards the psychopathic group calling themselves ISIS while beheading innocent people? Just resentment at the "fear mongering" aspect of the human race?

if I guy applies to work for your company sporting a hitler mustache and wants to be your public relations officer, what would you say? He isn't hitler of course, but the "fear mongering" human race might laugh and mock him right out of every room he walks into.

No one's trying to rename an acronym, or change historical greek and Egyptian mythology which had a goddess named Isis.
In the current global climate, it's obtuse to believe the name shouldnt warrant scrutiny, just like guy with the hitler mustache....
