For the love of God please let this be the last US Open post.

Why do we need numerous posts about Barry not paying the players at the end of the US Open? A much better post would be, when the last time was that Barry payed the players at the end of the tournament.

Yes, Barry is going to get extremely drunk and ramble on during the tournament. I understand Barry is going to tell us that this is his first Crown and diet Coke. Of course it is, he never lets it get empty so it is always his first. If you don't like it, then don't attend or buy the PPV. Also, yes I watched one night and Barry was exactly as I remembered watching years ago. He has a young female sing and then he grabs onto her while he mumbles on the mic. She is just like the pool players, she wants to sing and get noticed and make money. I am sure, she and her family understand for this, she will have to hug Barry and get grabbed around the waist while he mumbles his nonsense.

Why do the players continue going to the US Open when they know they are not going to get paid on time? Well lets try and figure this out. They can travel to a weekend tournament and spend $600 for expenses knowing that first place will pay $800 if they are lucky. Or they can spend $2000 to go to the US Open and if they win, they will eventually get paid $30,000.

So now lets look at the positives. How many other people are out there running tournaments and adding large amounts of money in the US? Maybe three and I will not name them because I believe they do not like being associated with Barry's late paying tournaments.

Thanks for your time, if you have any questions that need to be answered PM me and I will tell you how it is.

What is real weird is that people refer to this as the "U.S. Open". It pretty much is an insult to sports that actually have a U.S. Open...not that anybody knows or cares. Who were the big added money sponsors again? As usual pool players are playing for basically their own money.

Why do you get the last word?

I do.

Man, oh, man, when will it end?

The U.S. Open 9-ball Championship title is one that every single pro-caliber pool player in the world wants on their portfolio, bar none. That is why they continue to go to the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship.

The comments about Barry and the female singing, I think are in poor taste. Gimme a break.

Every year I have ever gone to the U.S. Open, every lady is greeted at the door on Friday night with a long-stem rose. Nobody mentions this about Barry. They'd rather kick the man when he's down aka "cyber bullying."

Has he made mistakes? Yes. Does the payment problem to players exist? Yes. Were there seating problems for paid VIP spectators? Yes. I can continue on with other negatives that were shared on this forum.

There were also some positives, though. Nobody seems to want to elaborate on or mention the first-class competition that occurred this year at the Open. Shane's three-peat is a feather in American pool's cap as far as firepower.

With all that said, I'm hoping Barry stays healthy and continues to keep the U.S. Open 9-ball championship alive. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. :)

I've been going to the US Open for over 20 years and i've enjoyed every trip. I've seen a lot of excellent pool in my experiences at the Open and when it ends I start thinking about the next year.

It seems a lot of people like to criticize Barry and most to them don't even go to the Open their criticism seems to come from what they've heard. I won't begin to say there haven't been problems with the payments to the players and I can't say with certainty that every penny has been paid since i'm not privileged to that information.

Let's look at it this way, every pro pool player (9 Ball Players) wants to win the US Open and many are looking to repeat as winners. With all the problems that have come up over the years with the Open where would pro pool be without the US Open and Barry Berhman. I'm not saying Barry hasn't made some mistakes over the years, but without him there wouldn't have been a US Open and we are in the count down to US Open number 40!

I hope that all the nay sayers will stop and think about what Barry has done for Pro Pool. 39 years of promoting the best Pro Tournament in the world is quite an accomplishment for anyone and we can all thank Barry for doing this.

I'd also like to say that i've seen some great 9 ball over the years and some outstanding matches. For what it's worth after all my trips and seeing all the pro players IMO Shane Van Boening is the best 9 ball player i've ever seen and i've seen all of them except for Luther Lassiter and I can't compare him to Shane. From the history Luther was one bad man playing in his day, but the equipment is so different now and the break is so powerful if it was possible for them to play i'd pick Shane. One of the advantages Shane has over the other pros is his break. He has the best 9 ball break in the game and since all of the players can run out that gives Shane such an advantage.

That's my 2 cents on the US Open.
