Just wanted to say a few words about Diamond's new 9ft ProAm 3C table...the waiting is finally coming to an end...this table will be in production next month...for all those interested in a straight rail billiards table:D

I'll have some pictures to post after the first of the year. This table is modeled after Diamond's ProAm...so it has the one piece 1" slate, along with the Diamond leveling system as well...and yes, it has the Artemis K55 profile billiard cushions...so you can either play straight rail...or 3C as well, only difference is that the table will come with Simonis 860 tour blue cloth instead of a billiards cloth like the Rapid 300.

If you have any questions about this table and would like to know more about it, you can contact me at 702-927-5689 or Brian at Diamond, 812-288-7665

Hi Glen,

You and Greg rule!!!! Thanks for the extra effort. Our "new" room owner gave away our Gold Crown 5 x 10 billiard table when he took over. Saw no need for an antiquated table in his room. We also lost a group of 3C and SR players who've never returned to play pool. Everyone lost.

Will the new table have a Smart Table slate with pocket openings? Might be somewhat more saleable if a room or home owner can convert at some later date. If not, guess thats OK too.

When will we see the fruits of your rail re-design? Thanks again for all your work for us poor pool and billiards playing slobs! Diamond Billiard Products. Sanity in a crazy world!

Glen,

Will this table be available in a heated version? (Or as an option?)

Why only nine foot, as apposed to a traditional ten?

Thank you.

This is one of the coolest things I could have read here.

At the end of the day with all the "9-ball, 10-ball or 8-ball" debates in my opinion 3-cushion is probably the best cue sport out there. Simple rules and easy to follow yet endlessly complex in execution. It is also amazing as a spectator sport, even the "easy" shots are impressive and hold a sense of tension.

I REALLY hope that pool halls support you here Glen and get a 3-cushion table or two into their halls and they get people to start playing the game more regularily on American soil. I would love to see 3-cusion become a viable competitive sport in America and if it did so I could see it over time overtake pocket billiards.

9ft Straight rail billiards is quite a bit different than 10'ft 3C billiards, different size balls, different cloth, different games........so, different tables

Diamond will be building a 10'ft 3C table later next year with 2" slates, heated, 6 legs....that's all I'm saying about it right now as I'm focused on the 9'ft right now. Once I get that into distribution...then I'll be taking a look at the 10'ft 3C...as well as a 10'ft ProAm pocket table;)

The 9'ft billiard table can be ordered as a convertable meaning you can order it as a 9ft ProAm pocket table and a second set of Billiards rails that can be switched back and forth pretty easy:D....or just straight up as a billiards table only.

Diamond has already changed their rail design on all their tables being produced today...so...that parts done:D

I don't think billiards will ever replace pocket pool as pocket pool was born out of billiards, but now that it's here...it's here to stay....but, there IS a lot of room for improvement in the billiards table industry...and that alone can inspire more players to play billiards on various levels.

Thank You

Thank you glen for being awesome and continuing to make billiards/pool better. Keep it up as long as you can. I would like to work with you on an idea in the future I will let you know about it later on.
Thanks Again,

Please don't take this the wrong way, just asking the question........

9' straight rail table?! Is there a market for that type of table out there?

I hope so, because I think that Diamond has done so much to better our sport/game/passion!! The convertible option is GREAT!! One of the best NEW "old school" ideas I have heard in a long time.

Will the future 10'er have that option as well?!

Also, I too believe the Pros should play on 10' tables!

Thanks Glen!

Mike

Congratulations!!

Good luck with this launching, and I do think there is a market for these. If a pool hall takes a chance on these they might be surprised in the interest it would create. The nice thing about these tables at this size is that they can replace a pool table with no problem.

I wish your enthusiasm for your profession was contagious. I just don't hear of many table mech's who try to take it to another level as you have done.

Kudos...........TommyT

The 9ft...AND 8ft Straight rail market is huge...just invisible that's all. Unless you play in this market you'd have no idea as to how big it really is....because it's not like the 3C market with 10' tables. If someone were to ask me of all the tables built today...who builds the worst of the worst tables out here....I'd have to say the 9' straight rail market is absolutely the worst tables I've ever seen....because no manufacture has really taken the time to put a little effort into this industry at this level. So, it's more of a replacement market as opposed to creating a new demand. Diamond will have no problem jumping right out as the best table manufacture there is in this market place...as just like the 9ft one piece slate ProAm...no one is going to touch the 9ft one piece straight rail tables either. I'll be posting pictures of this table about the middle of January....just about the same time as the first one gets delivered as it's already spoken for:D Mark my words....this is a big step for Diamond in the commercial industry, I think even Diamond is going to be suprised very soon at the demand of this table....which is a GOOD thing for Diamond:D...but BAD for everyone else that is so use to just dumping junk in this market place;)

Glen

Thanks for the reply Glen........I had no idea how much straight rail was being played these days. Also, I never thought of Tommt T's reply in regards to the size issue. Makes sense a 9'er for a 9'er.

As most room owners complain about the carom or snooker table not being used while there is a line waiting for pool tables. A quick rail switch and your in business.

Can't wait to see them!!

I have to agree with you, most of the tables at those little Korean, Mexican, and Vietnamese billiard halls are garbage. I would say in the Los Angeles area, there are more of these types of rooms than actual pool rooms. Although your average pool room tends to be bigger than these places.

That's why Diamond's introduction into the billiards industry has to start with the 8/9ft straight rail billiards tables first. After Diamond secures this part of the industry, then we'll see what comes up next...but I can already tell you...I'm going after the top 3 table manufactures in the 3C industry...if I can't produce a better playing table than the top 3...then I have really no business getting involved in that market....but, I already know I can surpass their tables...so, I'm not really concerned. I've been in this business for a very long time, worked on everything out here that's worth working on...but now that I've got a manufacture behind me...I can flex my knowledge a little bit more...and that's what it's all about, trying to make things better in this industry...one table at a time;)
