My apologies

I can't help but feel all our infighting has caused us, once again, to be left out of the Olympics.

Golf is back, as it should be.

When will we unite to make this happen? I for one will boycott the next Olympics if we are not given due consideration. More people play "pool" than any of these "sports" LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD!!!!

I Apologize to all the people I've been arguing with(Shawn, Dom, Justin) I understand we mostly do not agree, but I'd like to have a more civil conversation from here on out.
P.S. NOBODY WANTS ILLEGAL IVORY! If somebody had an answer, I'm sure most on here would contribute monetarily to that goal. I know I would.

With that said, lets hear solutions to seeing the worlds best playing the game we love. Who knows, maybe we can bring the plight of the Elephants to the forefront and really do some good!!!!

There's a halfway decent chance that so many athletes will get sick in Rio, they may have to back fill with pool just to fill up air time.

Seriously, I can't figure out why some form of billiards isn't an olympic sport.

Me either.......

I'm happy that golf is back, but sad to say the Olympic Committee has once again seen fit to disallow one of the worlds greatest spectator sports, Cat juggling.
Practically unknown in the United States, Cat juggling requires dexterity, superb hand-eye coordination, and a fair amount of brute strength (adult cats can weigh upwards of ten pounds) to be competitive.
Contestants perform in two phases of competition, freestyle and mandatory, and in two classes, adult Cat, and Kitten.
Interestingly, at last years World Cat Juggling Championships, held in Stockholm, Sweden, twenty-nine year old August Balz, of Nice, France was declared the overall grand champion when runner-up Ferdinand Longoria, of Madrid, Spain, was severely injured by a male Siamese. Mr. Longoria was attempting a difficult right to left hand toss with a triple somersault when the cat came too close to his face and clawed out one of his eyes.
It is my hope that four years from now the OC will see fit to include this venue in it's program. Cat juggling, arguably, one of the most beautiful, and challenging sports known to man. :)

Olympic History

A slave call girl from Sardinia named Gedophamee (Get-Off-of-Me)was attending a great but as yet unnamed athletic festival 2500 years ago near a revered mountain site in Greece.

In those days believe it or not the athletes performed naked.

To prevent unwanted and nuisance arousal while competing, the men imbibed freely on drink containing saltpeter(potassium nitrate) before and throughout the variety of events.

At the opening ceremonial parade Gedophamee observed the first wave of magnificent naked males marching toward her and she exclaimed: " OH!! Limp Prix

Over the next two and a half millenniums that simple phrase morphed into the name of what continues to be the world's greatest athletic competition.>>>> OLYMPICS

It is hard to figure..... Someone explain how curling is an Olympic Sport.

There aren't as many winter sports!

The summer games has loads trying to get in and personally I'd like to see them get a shot.

Snooker is pushing hard and is probably the most likely billiard game to make it in, but personally I'd like see loads of additional sports in that people don't normally get to watch but know about (eg bowling, pool etc) rather than synchronised swimming and dressage which must surely appeal to a much smaller audience!

Apology not accepted. You didn't say anything that warrants an apology. We were having a good discussion and O didn't feel you were out of line.

For you to make this thread shows how great of a member/person you are.

I hope you don't have any ill feelings towards me.

We can all get along. I don't care about people owning ivory cues. My argument to obeying the law whether people like the law or not.

I do accept a truce.

Cheers.

Pool players could never agree on the rules of the game, or which game to play for that matter. Never mind the size and brand of the table.
This forum proves my point.

I agree we need a governing body with standardized rules and equipment. Odds of that happening with the popularity here of bar leagues and individual bar rules are very slim. On top of that the rest of the world plays with billiards balls that are only 2" diameter. Everything must be accepted world wide.

This may not be a popular comment here, but I'm not sure pool should be in the Olympics.

To me, the Olympics should be competitions of sheer athleticism, and Pool most certainly does not fall into that category.

As much as I love this game (I actually played 10 hours today), I don't consider it a sport. Anything that Steve Mizerak can be a world champion at is not a sport. (This is not a knock against the Miz, just saying...)

I want pool but I think this thing about allowing established professionals into the Olympics is a joke. If it was just another pro tournament, then it would not be as exciting. Pro golfers, basketball players, soccer, etc. - who needs to see them compete with each other? We see them all the time.

I hope I'm not alone in wishing the Olympics was for amateurs, but I don't hear fans screaming for it. The Olympics was founded on amateur athletics. Seems commercialism took over.
