My biggest choke...

I am so frustrated. I played in the Norwegian 9-ball Championship this weekend, and after playing the first rounds and qualifing for the last 32 and the single elimination, I had an early Sunday morning match against a supposed better player then me.

He is a really fast player, and shoots hard, and is easily frustrated if things isn't going his way. Because of this I was really happy when we got to play on the finaltable with really tight pockets. I played good and went up 5 - 2, after giving him some safeties and teazer's, allowing him to miss some difficult shots and get frustrated.

Suddenly I missed position on the 9 in the next rack, and he won the safetybattle and gained some confidence again, and after some more racks he proceeded to tie the match at 7 - 7.

Then I take the lead again 8 - 7, race to 9. Then this happens: (Check Cuetable below)

Page 1:
I am too afraid of shooting to hard on the 8 and ends up way to short on the 9

Page 2:
I choke on the matchball and miss the 9

Page 3:
My opponent completely MISS the 9-ball, but because he had some leftspin on the cueball he hit the 9 on it's way back!!! Incredible! And he is rewarded with a tough layout for me!

Page 4 & 5: I hit the 9 and it rolls over to the pocket, but it ends in the jaw. If someone had farted against the 9 it would have dropped. It couldn't be closer to the pocket. My opponent makes it, and then breaks & run to win the match!

I am SO FRUSTRATED. First I play bad positon, then I miss badly (those damn nerves ruins my game :o ).

Then God tortures me with letting my opponent completely miss the ball, then hit it on it's way back and leaving me a difficult shot.

I think I can't sleep the next couple of weeks. When I missed the 9 the second time I swear I could hear Keith McCready saying:
"It's like a nightmare, isn't?"

CueTable Help

Sorry to hear about your frustrating match Roy. It's too bad this guy wasn't there to help out.

EDIT: Removed youtube clip of the guy that could have helped. It was a little crude. Too late Roy got me.

Roy,

Like I said to you in private, these are the experiences that lay the foundation for growth. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Overall, you played a great match. Get him next time.

I know, and I learnt a lot from the tournament this weekend. Most important, I am not scared of anyone anymore. The guy I lost to ended up 3rd.

Now it is one year with hard practise till the next Norwegian 9-ball Championship, and then the others are gonna fear me ;)

But seriously, have any of you ever experienced a more frustrating way of losing a match? This was a true nightmare for me

It always hurts more when you feel you beat yourself. And got a bad roll. But it happens to everybody at times. I'm sure you will deal with it in a positive fashion.
