My country is UNFAIR :(

Hi all,

Just needed to get this of my chest. Some rant about my country.

first of all, i live in belgium. 10miljon poeple , about +- 300 registered players in the BPBF (part of the EPBF). We have 7 rankings/year (all 9 ball) and 3 national championships a year (8ball, 9ball, 14-1) (there is only ONE competion)

now rants:

1/ Its unfair a player who likes 14-1 or 8 ball alot and has trained mainly for this game , wont get the place/game he deserves to prove himself. U HAVE to play 9ball, not because u like it, but because its the ONLY game that will give u many ranking points. i think it should be equally devided.

2/ and probably most important one: Our country is divided in 4 parts. The rulez stated that to get the last32 players who will play the finals of a ranking, or the last 64 players who will play the finals of a national championship, shoudl be found be taking EQUAL amount of players in each part of my country

iirc:
ranking = 8 players from each part, (4 saterday,4sunday)
national = 16 players from each part. (8saterday, 8sunday)

now the amount of players in each part is REALLY not even close of being +- the same.
+
The best players all come from clubs in the same part.

result: If u do your qualifying in 1 PART of my country. your chances are between 80% and 150% (yes this is correct, more qualifying places free then players who entered (NO the left over free spaces are NOT given to players of other parts of my country) ) and in other parts your chances are between (15% and 30%). (JUST by taking care of the AMOUNT of players)
+
In one part of my country ull find only TWO top32 players, in other parts, ull find (10+ top32 players).

This makes it really unfair , and qualifying has NOTHING to do with skills, but ALL to do with where u life (A) or where your club is located (B). Some players probably will never qualify EVEN if they are very good, just because there are in his part of the country 4 times more players then quali places free, and HIGH % chance to have to play several top32 players to qualify, where others sometimes dont even HAVE to play at all. just pay entree fee, and they are qualified (as there are less players then places free) and IF they have to play , they will only play top150+ players

What do u guys think of this system? Honestly, its totally unfair i think.

Yes it does sound unfair. You should take the matter up with the EPBF.And also do something about using mayo on fries!:D

unfair???!! i'll give you unfair!!!

what is up with this? vanlys truffles are made in belgium and probably available like coca cola/pepsi or hershey bars are here in the states. but, do you think we can get vanlys truffles here?? oh no that would be too easy, now, wouldn't it. yeah give a guy a tatse of vanlys truffles by some fantastic happenstance and then the rest of their life leave them with an oh so real memory of the thrill-- sorry about off topic(sort 0f) rant.

It used to be like that here in the states with the 14.1 qualifying tournaments for the US open. Can you imagine trying to qualify in New York :D.......but if you go to maybe Idaho, I think you might have an easier time....not dissin our great Potato state, just making a point...did I just write dissin?....oh man.........my wife got me drunk last night....forgive me.......Gerry

Don't fret, it's still polically correct to diss potato states:p

btw: My drunkeness almost got me a wife last night:D

Making a point ....

Solly ... You will have to do some home work (examples of
selection for 3 years past minimum), and make your points
with the BPBF and EPBF (just copy one of them), and point out
that although it has equal representation geographically, it is
not the BEST representation for the country as a whole.
You may have to show concentration of poolplayers by geographic
representation to make your point, with average level of play.
I would include some charts along with your written complaint,
and make it rather formal like a presentation.
I would also try to gather support for your side from other
top players in your country.
You could also use other countries, including USA, to illustrate
a better way of selecting players to make your point carry more
weight.
Changing a ruling, such as this, is not easy and make take a lot
of work and support on your part to change it.

You couldnt have been that drunk if you hired a boat and was ready to kidknap her! :p

ROFL,

silly solly TRIES for once to post a intelligent post, and all i get back is FOOD.

1/ NO wont take away mayonaise. I eat frites with mayo EVERY day with my steak, beaf, or whatever (only lasagna, spagetti i dont use it) but for the rest. MAYO ALL OVER IT :D

2/ Wafels and truffles... seems someone has a good taste.

Its funny to see how US people think of belgium. what we are known for... :)
Does any of u even know where belgium is on the map?
btw do u know reimond Ceulemans?... many times world champion. best tripple cussion player ever lived i think (but not sure, as im not a expert.)

Now:
about the post ;) i wasnt thinking of changing the rulez. who am i? , the BBPF exists for so many years, and this little crappy newcomer thinks he can change the rulez? just was a little rant post, but what ive said ive ment it.

now: FUNNY part.
i discussed it with many players during the last belgium championships. and as ive posted i was gonna prove them a #149 player could qualify just by checking the statistics. Funny thing is. All those i told about it, did the EXACT same, so conclusion: the place where normally there are MAX 14 players, there were 100+ people trying to qualifying today. including almost all top32 players. the organiser said he'd never seen so many of the best players in the same place. toughest qualifying ever he said.

greats minds think equal ways i guess... or maybe id better had shut up , tell no one about my statistics and just do my thing. but my point was not to win, just to prove them some flaws in the 'system'.

Scott: sounds like uve got experience with this... u think silly sally solly has a chance to make a rulechange? im just a small fish.

That would be a tell tale sign of a system with a few flaws in it;)

Congratulations on your win...you will have enough people to back u on a change ..just wait it will work out for u...

thx guys.

(ps i used my statistics to find the easyest place to qualify, but everyone did after i told them about the flaws, so i really had to EARN my spot in the finals.)

im only 146 now, because i just started and i havent even done 50% of the ranking events, so dont u be fooled :) i play better then my ranking is, and i had been training ALOT for this championship in the last 2 months, and it payed off, AND i played my best game ever.

i might be a newbee, but ud better get ur best game out, if im playing my best level. :p

more info about the qualifying, check my other post. Happy solly + thx to some AZB'ers.

Hey Solly,
I would find out who makes these rules. Is it a board or organization or what? Then find out when they convene to add or change the by-laws of the current structure. Then suggest (with backing) what would be more appropriate for your country. If more current players are in favor of that change maybe the voices of the players themselves will be heard by the governing body.
