My cue shafts keep warping

I leave my cues in the car year round. Never know when I'm going to be going to the pool hall. To me, being prepared is more important than babying a cue. But everyone is different on this issue.

The risk is warpage, theft, and inlays moving damaging the finish. But I know many excellent players with high end equipment leaving cues in their car.

I guess it's just my OCD. My 10 year old Mezz still looks basically new and I play 2-3 nights a week.

I have a segmented shaft that hasn't warped in years - stored in my trunk 24/7.

Dedicate one of the tubes for a shaft to store cylindrical tubes of dessicant.

Having been a carpenter for most of my life, I'm always amazed how few folks are aware of the fact that wood moves and reacts to the changes in temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions.
With the BEST woods, you can ignore these for a while and get away with it, as I did with my old Hoppe. It will catch up.:(

I've had my cues in my trunk continuously 24/7 for 10 years. In Philadelphia, and in Atlanta. I wouldn't recommend others do it, but mine have never warped. Again, its just where my priorities are. I'd rather have my cue with me at all time, at the risk of warping it. To each his own.

My cue shafts keep warping. I use a twenty year old leather tooled cue case. I think I need one of those vacuum sealed cue cases. Any suggestions?

I would buy a new case. After 20 years...who knows what is inside that case.

You case might be warped inside too.

I have always adhered to the practice "never store your cue in a place you would not want to be put yourself". Consequently, I have never locked my cue in the trunk of a car or put it in a location that it could be kidnapped. IMHO

How about not storing your cues in your car. Problem solved.

Now you tell me. I hated that cue anyway. It was a $50 Palmer I bought on ebay, then had $100 worth of custom work to the shaft.

I had a Black Boar. I sold it after twenty years just as the shafts started to warp.

I just ordered a Joss cue and a GTF Designer Prestigue Case. Prestige Cases are designed after "It's George Cases" ...

I just spent $820. I love PayPal
