Very nice looking cue. I have been considering a Coker for awhile now since I only live about 1 hour away from his shop. How do you like the way Coker plays? Would you recommend one for the hit??? I know they are good looking cues, but how do they play??

God they play like a dream. I love the hit of it, the feedback is amazing. My control got at least ten times better after switching to a coker from a predator 2. Ive been playing for years, and within a week of using a coker, it brought out the best in my game.

Your position play will improve alot, the feedback is really good and consistent, so its much easier to control the cueball. The wood-wood joint makes the hit very nice, i like it alot!

The hit can very from cue to cue... i have a friend who has an older coker.. gaboon ebony, and cocobolo points.. and his hits really firm.. almost like a southwest. Ive owned 2 cokers, one ebony/holly, and one BEM. I preferred the birdseye as far as playability, but definately like the looks of my ebony/holly cue much better. Havnt seen a better looking coker yet.

For me.. i think the hit is more of the reason i bought a coker, alot of my friends have them, and i liked their hit. Personally im not in LOVE with the coker design, some are nice, but the hit and control is what makes it a great cue.

Since your so close to his shop you should really take advantage of that and grab one.

You should when you have the chance. Lots of people say bad things about them, but usually never have played with one. I think the cues are great, what is so bad about them? I see nothing wrong with them, although they seem to sometimes be taboo around here on the forums, maybe because of below average prices? Not sure. Ive seen cheap cues, and expensive cues from many cue makers, it varies from cue to cue.

Is your playing cue different than the one shown? The one pictured does not look like a wood to wood joint

Hmm, well wouldnt this cue still be considered wood to wood joint? If the joint is ivory.. and the pin screws into a all wood bored shaft? not sure, but that cue above is my playing cue. If its not wood to wood what is it?

If it's a solid ivory joint then it's not wood to wood, if it's just an ivory sleeve then it's wood to wood.

I always thought wood to wood was a one piece cue cut in two and then adding a screw to join it back together; otherwise any cue that is sleeved would be considered a wood to wood joint. I have cues with metal, plastic, and ivory that would then be considered wood to wood. Then you have the different way that the shafts are threaded.
