The destert ironwood in that PFD cue is simply gorgeous. I'd bet the cue plays as solid as a rock (must be cored as that wood is hard and heavy). Paul sure uses a nice variety of pricey exotic woods in his cues.

Beautiful cue indeed.
It must be cored with ironwood and some ebony in there.

Ironwood (Lignum Vitae) is also used for bearings too...

That is a phenomenal cue....

Thanks for the compliments.
I ordered this from Paul a few years ago. He let me trade in one of his other cues so I was able to design something extra nice. Most of this is my design but Paul helped fine tune it alot and he came up with the forearm and butt design which is better than what I had. For anyone that has one of Paul's cues now, I'd highly recommend his 'trade-up' program.
This dessert ironwood is absolutely my favorite of any wood out there bar none. I think it is also the densest with the exception of lignum vitae. It is cored but I don't know what he used. It still plays pretty good. BTW, would love to see a pic of the lignum vitae cue. I've never actually seen one. I've only see examples of the wood. It's supposed to be really 'oily' and hard to work with.

What a beautiful cue! Excellent work there Mr. Drexler!

Is lignum vitae the wood they started using in ships-clocks because the oil would never fully dry, meaning it's sort of self-lubing?

Fantastic looking PFD. I have 3 of his cues myself, they all play very nice and his work is very sharp and clean. Great to deal with when desiring any type of cue, especially a one of a kind.
Enjoy the cue.. What a beauty!
