My dissapointment with Ki-techs and Great White chalk

Kamui

The tip that they stopped making was a Kamui medium soft brown. It displayed MS on it.

I've tried the medium brown, med black. Soft and super soft blacks and brown soft. Out of the 6 M/S I had 4 played the best I've ever had and haven't found anything that matches it for the whole life of the tip. Onyx is great but gets too hard after a while. Kamui black soft is good and doing the job but hoping these G2's are comparable to the M/S.

If you have any M/S Browns I would take them off your hands.

Sorry the Kamui tips I have are the Medium browns.
I am not a fan of the Onxy tips, to me they glaze up pretty bad.

I would ( ONLY ) order my G2 tips only from G2, Making sure the letters of the glue side are done in black ink ONLY.

We know for a fact that there are some G2 Knock offs on the market..

I liked your review, sorry you weren't happy with the KI Techs,
I have been planning on trying them out or at least stocking some,
Your review hasn't changed my mind, and I don't say that to be offensive.
I have customers that I want to make sure they get a tip on their cue they like.
and I like having a large selection of tips they can choose from.

Are you sure that a triangle tip wouldn't be worth a try ?
Personally I have to wonder if Triangle isn't the best overall tip ever made .

Thanks for the tips about the G2 knockoffs.

I read soooo many positive reviews of these tips I thought positive and negative can help a company and players. I suggest you stock plenty of Ki-techs as soo many people have found a new lifelong tip. Sadly, mine was discontinued and I'm on the hunt for that special something again.

Funny thing is I tried a triangle previous to the black soft. It was recommended by a great local player and after testing his I had one installed. It lasted about a month of nice play then became harder and harder. The soft hardens up too but not to a point it really effects playability.

A great tip for me offers consistency, extreme grab and then it boosts my confidence knowing I have the cue ball on a string.

One of our best local players Edwin Montal is a milk dud fan and is dying to try a Ki-tech. As soon as I find the couple I have left (recently moved) I will post his thoughts on them. I'm guessing he will be a fan and a new customer.

Tips

Yes there is some problems going on with knock off G2 tips .
I would only order straight from G2..

I have anywhere from 3 and up shafts for my main player.
Because I have the tools to make my own shafts and I install different tips on the different shafts.
I do this so my customers can get some idea what tip they would like on their cue.
I deal with allot of players who really don't know one brand name of tip from the other.

I use to have Kamui , triangle and Onxy, I didn't like the Onxy so I went with a sniper .
I have had issues with the snipers delaminating.
Now I have Kamui Triangle and Ultra skin tips on my shafts.
I have more shafts and one of them is a practice shaft that I put a piece of clear plastic on as tip to practice hitting center cue ball.

Triangle tips,
They are so inexpensive and I have my own lathe's it doesn't make any difference if I had to replace one every month to ( me ).

Good review, Thank you, and I hope you find a tip you like and I have heard allot of good about pooldawgs milk duds but haven't ever tried one .

I've been using the Outsville medium tip and love it. They haven't mushroomed at all and they last quite well. I gave one of my tips to a friend and he loves it too. I wouldn't buy any other tip. Good job Renfro !!!

Ki-tech Med on 4 of my playing shafts, Hammerhead break tip, SOLO racking template and Great White chalk. Ya, I'm pretty sold on Chris's products.. :)

Outsville, population - me....

Refreshing

What a good post. Every one is polite and informative and lots of sound experience is being shared. Good for all of you and have a great day!

I don't really have the time and knowledge to play with all the available tips and know which is best. I kind of view them like I do shafts. What works well for one player does not always work well for another player.

It's a bit over the top, trimming the tip with a router, when a fresh Olfa blade does the job just fine.
Just make sure you stick to the one blade, on tip rule.
I haven't tried the Ki-Tech tips yet, but I findt it a bit funny how much people seem to care about a $20 investment.
If you don't like it, try something else.

For me it wasn't $20. I had 2 faulty tips installed and then tried the replacements for another 2 installs. $80 total plus approx. 6 hrs in travel and install time. I hate wasting time the most! Also, not playing to the best of my abilities for 2 months with the faulty soft hoping for it to break in and some how become consistent.

I gamble every time I play plus tourneys, the amount of possible winnings lost can't be tracked but it's there for those 2 months.

I agree about trying something else, I use to be set with moori's and then Kamui M/S brown. Bounced around with a lot of tips in between them and still currently trying to find the best fit for me.

I've used ki tech tips and they're excellent. Can't comment on the chalk as in still in the process of trying to use all my kabuki chalk up that my mrs bought me... My chalk hand is constantly looking like a smurf. Can't wait until its done to give great white a try.

I also had a soft put on ....Blow up like a marshmallow. Installer has done thousands and we took it slow. I purchased the sample pack and have not yet tried the other soft or the medium.

Not ready to cut off a perfectly good Kamui yet to try again.

On another note I also bought the rack package at the same time. Solo Rack had more burnt marks than I thought normal and a bit bent. Texted Chris he offered to send another out after seeing the pics. Waited a month ,,,,nothing texted again he apologized and sent it out with a complimentary chalk.

So I agree he does do the right thing when things go wrong.

Lastly, I hope at some time he puts out a video covering how he recommends installing the tips as he is very clear that they need be done a certain way to avoid the blow-up.
